I'm having like what feels like a crisis in trying to decide what my next daily, and only car, should be.

I'm currently in a shockingly cheap leased RS Megane which I love but is due to go back in Dec.

Quality of steering and ride quality is super important to me as opposed to outright brute strength.

Truthfully, I want an Alpine A110 and having test driven one, it's near perfect.

However, I worry it about it as a daily for a 25 ea. way commute at least 4x a week.

I think the Alpine may remain an aspiration but I guess my requirements are a car that captures the spirit of being driver focused, if only the GR86 was still available!

A two car garage is far from workable so I'm working towards just the one. I also don't really want to consider older than 3yrs.

Thanks - I guess my reticence with the commute in the Alpine is as much the accumulation of miles more than anything else.

Evora is an interesting prospect although perhaps just a little too exotic.

I have an Alpine. It's bloody ace. I also have a GR86 on the way which I might not want.
I've decided I don't like you biggrin

What's making you think that about the GR86?

Alfa Giulia QV. Try one!
Reliable, fantastic looking and amazing value for the performance
Yeah, that's pretty special and a car that I've admired from afar since launch.

I'd worry about potential for big bills outside of warranty and I'm not sure a super saloon is what I'm after.

Beautiful car tho.

I’ll follow this with interest.

I’m seriously considering an Alpine A110 next as a daily, but have come to the conclusion that I really ‘need’ another car given I live rurally so will likely get a shed next winter.

Interested on your thoughts on the test drive. I took an extensive one and was fascinated by it.
It was the GT with optional sports exhaust and it was a fairly limited 5 miles out the dual carriageway and 5 miles back. I was struck by how 'darty' the car felt, it was incredibly easy to place and it rode the rough surface very well.

It feels like a car that I'd continue to bond with and learn over the course of ownership.

Probably worth sticking in a shout for a Porsche Cayman or Boxster.

Jaguar F Type would be a great GT car alternative.

If it was my money it would be this exact car. Trying to justify it the last week to myself but it too big a stretch to be honest.

An F-Type is also on my radar but in my heart I think I'd let down by the driving experience, if not the drama and theatre of ownership.
