Hi all, I've just been sat here thinking my Tesla MS screen was laggy and if there was anything I could do, or and upgrades available. Turns out there is..........but..........it's £2,300!

Just wondering if anyone has done this MCU upgrade already, and if they think it's worth it? It does give extra features too, but it's the laggyness I predominantly want to resolve.

Given that the car has done 75k and I've spent literally nothing on servicing (other than tyres, wiper blades and an MOT) my man maths is saying it's worth it to maintain the cars' longevity (to me).

The radio is a bit of an odd one. I understand I’ll still have internet radio it’s just the FM, AM and DAB that I lose?

I’m pretty sure all I listen to is internet radio anyways so that’s not an issue. £470 if I did want the radio module.

Sorry just to clarify. You can still get the radio but it’s internet radio, not FM, AM or DAB. I assume the internet radio (TuneIn) can get all UK stations anyways?

I only listen to the radio, but I don't "do" music - only the spoken word (Radio 4, Times Radio, LBC, etc.).

I accept that I am in a minority, but I wouldn't buy a car that didn't have a radio of some sort.
Sorry, I have said it before on this thread, but you do get radio. Albeit internet radio. See www.tunein.com. It has every channel available I can think of (including all the ones you mention above). Tesla give you the premium subscription as part of owning a car.

But not Classic FM which is what my wife listens to all the time.
It seems to have that too? https://tunein.com/radio/Classic-FM-1009-s8439/

It's very simple:

Keep the infotainment the car came with. We've been doing this for decades.

If you upgrade, keeping AM/FM/DAB will cost you extra on top of the upgrade. OR YOU CAN USE TUNEIN AND STILL GET ALL THE RADIO CHANNELS YOU WANT!

Simples.
Corrected that for everyone who doesn't seem to understand plain English.

I get that but I was merely correcting the posters saying one could get any radio station via TuneIn. That is not true. Or at least not on my Model X, frustratingly.
If you search for Classic FM on the ‘any music’ button it appears on the top left (‘Top Result’). It doesn’t appear under stations for some reason but it is there.

That is odd. Is there a setting for show ‘Top result’ or anything anywhere?

I’ve just had a software update so might be a new feature I can’t say I’ve ever noticed it before. But still, it confirms Tunein has Classic FM lol. In fact I’ve not found a station Tunein doesn’t have yet (not one that I listen to anyways - and I’m also not into music so like my talk radio stations)

Anyways. Back onto the original topic. Shall I push the button on this upgrade or not. Is £2,400 worth it? @Zespak. The cars not £100k it never was. It’s probably worth about £40k now. So it’s quite a lot in relation to the value

Like I said. It doesn’t appear under ‘stations’ but only under ‘top result’ which you don’t even have.

I’ve just had a software update recently (now on 2020.48.12.1). What are you on??

I do get "Top Result" but it isn't Classic FM:

The software is the latest (updated a few days ago).
Isn’t it there under stations, second one along? I know the logo is different but it says Classic FM?

Ah fair enough. I’m out of ideas then. Have you tried Tesla support to see if they can help?
