Where have all the MR2s gone?
Discussion
Interesting. Thanks.
Most on that Newsnow site are sold or no longer available.
I've had my Rev 4 for ever. Still looks nice superficially but a few problems are starting to crop up.
Just checking out the market to see if I could / should replace it or keep spending money on it.
I'll probably just keep on dithering and doing enough to get it though an MOT until it becomes unsustainable.
There used to be loads for sale in the £100s but not any more. Finding a good UK car without nasty wheels and bodykits is becoming harder.

Yeah my ideal MR2 would be a Rev 4 turbo T Bar but that looks like a standard UK car and has red paint that doesn't fade.
Trouble is all turbos are imports and most seem to have dubious body kits and aftermarket wheels on them.
I'd probably settle for a Blue turbo that hasn't been modified.

I had a tubby for 11 years which I sold 2.5 years ago. I sold it to a guy from Germany who imported them. I was something along the lines of the 120th that he had imported! They are hard to come by on the continent as they are rhd.
.
Interesting. Did they not make many in LHD or did Germany not get many? I know they were getting expensive towards the end of production due to exchange rates and newer Boxster and Elise coming out. Losing 120 from UK is a big drop..
Yeah I love the MR2 as it is the complete opposite of all those grey square boxes that everyone else drives around in these days.
I had a Rev1 from 1997 to 2004 and a Rev 4 from 2004 to now. So I've been driving them for half my life. I still can't walk away from it without turning around to have another look.

Question, timing belt was done in 2011 but only 15k miles ago. Considering it’s non interference would you change it?
Nice car. I had my belt changed for the first time a few years ago it was 20 years old and 70,000 miles and had never given cause for concern. - It has squeaked ever since. Apparently they are a real pig to change. It's the eternal dilemma for old, low usage cars - Do you service in line with mileage or age? I tend to split the difference, but change the oil every year, unless a problem presents itself.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202107145...
£17k. Wow. Nice car.
I've got mine in for a respray now. Couldn't let it go.

Yep. The guy behind the parts desk sounded suitably embarrassed.
I always anticipate high parts prices yet they always come out at double my highest guesstimate.
Trying to source a genuine used one. But as my car is quite low miles the chances of finding a used one in better condition are slim.
But I dislike aftermarket parts. Got quoted £70 to recondition my one plus another £70 to add in the gear shift pattern. Plus VAT....
