Most expensive tank of fuel in an Alpine?

I've spent the morning prepping the car for a trip to Yerkshire next week which included filling up from nigh on empty. 43.14 litres of BP ultimate at £1.699 p/l led to a bill of £73.29! Imagine running something that isn't frugal like the little Frenchie.

My Caterham easily does 40mpg+ when touring.

I imagine fuelling something like that atm will be comically expensive.
