Westfield V8 Temp gauge

I’m helping a mate out with a few jobs on his Seight.
It has a 3.5 RV8 fitted and the coolant temp gauge has always been a bit erratic.
It’s a smiths gauge and sender, I know it’s bound to run a bit hot with such a small ally rad but I just wondered is there some kind of digital display I could fit as an extra or even in place of the existing gauge.
The fan switch is the old fashioned manual capillary shoved up the hose type, it would be nice to incorporate the two.
