Looking to by an already built Locost, the cars I have been looking at have never been registered for use on the road, so........

1) SVA any one any suggestions on the best way to get through it, i.e. I don’t want to get the thing tested without having first done some sort of check myself - to try and reduce the number of things that it could fail on. Are there any guides, manuals that offer this sort of thing?
2) Insurance – where is the best place to get insurance from? The main stream insurance companies I have spoken with don’t have a clue. I want to use the car on the road and for track days so will need insurance for both.
3) umm there was a third thing but I can’t remember what it was – DUH !! if this post gets edited later today it’ll be because I’ve remembered

Mark, thanks for your comments blunt or not allows good to hear opinions of people in the know. When buying the car if i'm able to get the seller to put the car through SVA you reckon that this might be worth a shout?
