......so, who's going? It's the 17th and 18th at Westpoint if anyones interested.

I will be at some point. My Sylva isn't really in 'touring spec' just yet and the Quantum is also off the road, so I expect I'll be turning up in my dads (kit built!) TVR, which is a bit of a shame with the 'giant canary' being sat in the garage.

I'm seriously aiming to be there - after the Aeon got finished just after all the other shows.

However, it does need to be not raining though...
hope that heater's effective Tribbs!!!

really fancy going to this but just can't face the A35 this year.
Where are you coming from? The new A30 is much quicker from Honiton - just watch out for the local constabulary on the bridges! To be fair, the A3052 is rather more fun smile

PS You have a heater?! ...........luxury! Presume there isn't a hood on your Aeon based on the ones I've seen though, so I suppose it's still pretty hardcore in Novemeber!

Getting ahead of myself here, but in theory, would anyone with a high resolution camera be willing to donate some pics of this years show for a write up?

Write up?

I have a press pass for the event.
Wish I did smile

I'm trying to get into journalism and I've contacted a few people to see if they'd be interested if I compiled a show report (for free obviously, I'm trying to get some experience and if anyone likes what I come up with they're more than welcome to publish it)

Black5 and robbydee - tried to email you guys, but it seems to be bouncing back off my email system. Please disregard this if you have got anything through, but if not is there any chance you could drop me a line at cj_pickering(at)hotmail.com (replacing the (at) for an @)? - I'd be very keen to speak to you.

As regards tickets, entry is usually free for kit car owners (in their cars atleast!) and this can sometimes be stretched a little if you have an unusual, low volume sportscar (or an MX5 in the case of some people rolleyes)

This car was superb - star of the show for me (ok, maybe jointly with the Murtaya). It's not a kit as such yet, just a one off concept, but the guy whoi designed it is thinking about putting it into production. I reckon he's onto a winner.

The roof in particular was beautifully simple and elegant in excecution.

I am inclined to agree on the price. It's main selling point is being something genuinely different and on that account it suceeds dramatically, but I'm not sure I can see a 2CV based car re-arranging your facial features or indeed stunning you with it's handling. Therefore it has to be cheap enough to be marketed as a 'fun car'. Once you start talking about £10k and upwards you're putting it against some fairly serious drivers cars (in kit form).

That said, I can't begin to say how much I liked the design. I genuinely thought it surpassed many of the concept cars that the big manufacturers spend millions creating. It's also conclusive proof that engineers can produce good looking cars wink

I took a pic of the hotrod thing which shows a URL for the manufacturers web site.
Ewwwww... that looks terrible with those tiny wheels.
I agree, hotrods really aren't my thing at all but at least it makes a change from 7's and Cobras!
yes Were you there? I wouldn't have given two seconds thought to a hot - especially one based on a 2CV - if someone described it to me or perhaps even showed me some pictures, but in the flesh it looked like it had a huge amount of potential. I even find myself half tempted by the idea of getting one and it's really not a genre that would interest me normally.

Decent read Chris.

Something that is quite difficult when writing about a show.

Would be nice if you can get some specific reviews of the cars you mention.

PS: Nice pics too
It would indeed. A few people said they'd be happy to let me have a play, so maybe I can sell the idea to John at Madabout (metaphorically speaking).

Once I started writing the article it occured to me that actually a show might not be the easiest thing to cover on a first attempt! Dealing with a specific car it probably wouldn't be so difficult to try and give the piece some structure, but with such a wide range of subjects it's difficult to link them all in.

Photographs are indeed excellent. smile
