As I'm in the process of planning the roll cage build for my M, do I remember to have seen a very well build M series roll cage on the www, but can't find it.

The main structure and the front window supports are straight forward, but the door tube is a bit of a headache. I could cut the cabin and door to "hide" the tube there, but will require the window handle to be moved and will be irreversible damage to the doors. So perhaps there is another way ?

I think this is based on american rules, they are a bit different to FIM appendix K. But I need to discuss with the local FIM guy, as appendix K recon that old GT cars with backbone tubular fram can be difficult and can be exemptet from some of the normal requirements

I was basing it on MSA Blue book (UK regs). It does however make sense when you consider how easily the cage would fold as a result of the additional bend to get around the dash. One bend is all that is allowed for MSA regs.

Door bars.. how high, how low, side impact vs egress in case of fire. Mine is low.
Do you have more pics of your cage ? rear part of doortube ? and what seat do you use ?

I was thinking of a sparco Sprint V as the most narrow base one I can find.

I got the tubing yeaserday, ø38x2,5 and ø45x2.5 as stated by FIA, today did I go to the machine workshop and made a lot of conical couplings and other bit's and pieces. The bad news is that the toolshop didn't have the tubebender in stock, but then it's of to another shop tomorrow.

For the seats did I buy a set of Sparco sprint V, even the Cobra FIA classic look stunning. But the Sparco sis slightly bigger and 1/3 of the price

Pictures will follow shortly

Fia marking of the roll cage ? In that case, the cost here (in denmark) is around 150£/300$ for a approval that your car is complieant to FIA regulation 253 or the relevant appendix J&K

For the seat/harness/helmet/suit etc. it will be checked at the individual races

I know the shoulder issue, but Sparco is the most narrow FIA approved seat I could find. I'm 5´9 so quite close. My plan is to fit the main part of the roll cage, then loosely fit the seats, and then solve the difficult part with the door bar.
