I went for a first drive with my Taimar after I got the license plates on. A lot of electrical funtions were sudenly gone. Warning lights on the dashboard do not function anymore. Voltmeter, rev counter, fuel gauge, watertemperature meter, indicators, brakelights, hazard, wipers also.

Normal lights work. I can flash the head lights. As there are some many functions lost there must be one very clear reason which I haven't found yet.

I found a plug under the bonnet and there is nothing connected. Where is it for? Could this be the reason?

Has yours got the live and negative studs on the bulkhead? check the connections front (easy) and back (not easy)

Still got tjhe little fuse box with glass fuses, again check connections and are fuses a good fit in holders?

Check all the connections on the back of the dash dials, the knurled nuts can come loose causing havoc!

Phillpott, I see 4 relays against the fire wall. For what are they. I only count 3 and I have 1 plug that does not have a relay and looks unsed. Or..... a relay fell off.....

GTRene, I did not touch the electrical system apart from the wires that go to the button that releases the rear hatch. Then I removed the panel in the hatch to be able to release the hatch by hand, because the solenoid is not working. There I also saw a lose wire. Still have to fix that.

The two metal can type units are flasher units, one for indicators and the other for hazards

Is there anything connected to the round black plastic relay that is mounted to the bulkhead to the left of the plug you are holding?

The plug you are holding could be for a radiator fan relay

Getting back to the loss of ignition circuits, the glass type fuse holder terminals that clamp around each end of the fuses are not a 1 piece terminal, the terminals are in 2 halfs and it only needs 1 half not to be connecting properly with the end of a fuse to cause the loss of multiple circuits

On my 3000S i had problems like that so i fitted a new Lucas Fuse Box (4 fuses).
Just make sure you put correct links/bridges on the in Terminals of the Fuse Box.
Also check the round knurled nuts on the Gauges that hold them in the Dashboard . They hold the Earth Wires with small Rings.

That's a great way of solving the problem by bridging the terminals

Why didn't I ever do this? I've spent time cleaning them up but not bridging them....Live and learn.....

The round black relay is connected Penelope Stopil.

It is the same relay which you see in the pictures when you follow the link that Phillpot did send in this thread.

My Taimar has electric fans but this was retro fitted.

Sorry but the simple answer is "I don't remember"!

The wiring was such a mess, some TVR stuff I didn't like plus a few repairs or modifications over the years, that I pulled the lot out and started again smile

I doubt the missing relay is your problem, but hey, plug one in and see what happens idea
