Hi, the tinkering with my 3000M continues ! If the engine is sat running (Ford V6 Essex) there is a ringing noise but I can’t find where it’s coming from ?? I wonder if it’s from the alternator but can’t be sure ?? It’s a strange constant ring and it’s at a wavelength that gets right in my head !?!!! Any ideas what it is or where it maybe coming from.. squirts of WD 40 or drops of oil on various parts have NOT done the trick !! Any ideas or guesses will be greatfully received?? Thanks for now, Gavin.

Turns out the ringing noise is air being drawn in through the oil filler cap, remove the cap and noise stops instantly !?!! Now a bigger problem has arisen, suddenly a rumbling noise has started on the free running top pulley, it was perfect until I removed the fan belt and tried to align this pulley with the others, I’ve had to close the workshop doors and walk away as there is no reason for this to suddenly happen!!! Having a day or 2 away from tinkering!!

No not at all, we have repositioned the tensioner pulley midway between the bottom pulley and alternator and it all looks and performs well ....so far !!

Hi,it’s me...back again!!! This TVR 3000m running a Ford V6 continues to run uneven and hiccups along at low revs !! Acceleration is great but when driving at a slower speed it’s very hiccupy and uneven... It has new distributor cap/ leads and plugs ! Carburetor is a Weber 38 DGMS and have tried 50/55 and 60 idle jets and extensively adjusted the idle screws I’ve changed the power valve and both the Other diaphragms , checked the float twice !!! Have checked timing and today disconnect the vacuum pipe to the dizzy vacuum (which didn’t have any effect ??!) HELP !! Can anyone shed any light on what can be the problem as I’m truly at a loss .......???????

Thanks for your reply, I can see the base plate move when I apply vacuum to the dizzy vacuum!? But will continue to investigate this further !! I do have a suspicion that the offside idle jet gallery may be restricted or possibly blocked but not sure how to check this out !!!!!
