3000s 38DGAS ?

Question, on my u.s. spec. 38 DGAS carb there is a accelerator pump type devise on the left side of the carb. The accelerator pump is on the right hand side. What is its function? No one I have spoken with knows what it is, it is not shown on the parts list or in the illistration from weber and a new diaphram diden't come with the otherwise correct rebuild kit from Weber. All thoughts are welcome, thank's.

Colin thanks for the reply/offer. I will try to post a pic. to help describe the unit. It is on the float bowl opposite side of the accelerator pump in the same location as the accelerator pump. Thanks again G.K.
