Sorry, for me it is, to be treated like this when othre tracks do not see the need is the end of the line
Hardly a miss, I perhaps only go there once a year. Good riddance, I told them so by email too.
I should think they'll hardly miss you either.Hardly a miss, I perhaps only go there once a year. Good riddance, I told them so by email too.
From a spectating point of view it is much better than Silverstone I think, although I go there more frequently than I do Brands. You can see all the pits.
I go to Brands around 5 times a year, although this visit will be my fourth this year. I like it.

Cracking meeting the best of the season at Brands hearing DFV engines coming through the woods takes me back to my childhood. If you haven't been before it's like the days of old where the paddock and pits are open and friendly.
That's a major factor in my enjoyment of such meets. Silverstone is excellent that way. Brands today was as well. I went in the paddock to tack photos and the owners and drivers were only too willing to chat about their cars. Preparation was top class.I'll post some images tomorrow. A bit tired at the moment - I don't do hot. And it was hot.

It was a terrific day yesterday.
What did we do before safety cars though! Seemed like an awful lot to me. And did you see the safety car pull off in the F1 race 150m before the cheques flag? Shortest F1sprint in history.
It was a consistent problem for both days. There needs to be some other system I think. What did we do before safety cars though! Seemed like an awful lot to me. And did you see the safety car pull off in the F1 race 150m before the cheques flag? Shortest F1sprint in history.
One option might be for the drivers to be told not to go for impossible overtakes.
Here's a few seconds which identifies the problem I think. I wouldn't want to stop drivers going for a gap, but it might be nice if there's a gap to go for.
The organisers have to respond to today's requirements and generally they worked quickly. It is, I think, more up to the drivers to allow racing. We lost nearly half of the Prototype race on Saturday. 17 minutes behind the pace car. Come on, guys. Get a grip.
The double Lotus F1 accident, same spot, on Saturday, which I didn't see, was, according to someone up at the scene, 'pretty stupid and predictable'.

Just been reading the results and I wish I'd been able to go solely for the Youngtimer GT/Touring race. Masive Yank tanks, Porsches, Lotuses and more...on the same grid as a Volvo 360 and a pair of bloody Trabants! A surely completely unique sight.
It truly was one of the most crazy grids I have seen in a long time....at one end the Trabants with a screaming 600cc two-stroke, and at the other extreme a 9.1 litre Dodge Challenger... https://youtu.be/wqO2756YdOk
It took Paddock flat. Not many other drivers managed that.

We went on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Although my dad and uncle used to watch these cars at Brands back in the day... previously we've only been to goodwood for 'classic' racing, and it was refreshing to see the really quick stuff actually racing rather than being part of a 'high speed demo'.
Highlights of the day were:
- The F1 cars for the noise! I timed the lead car lapping at about 1:22, that can't be far off what they were doing in the day?
- The racing in the pre-66 cars between the two Lotus Cortinas was fantastic.
- The endurance cars, with the V10 engined car (did i mention the noise?) involved in a battle with a car 10 years it's senior!
Will be going back next year, for sure.
Don't forget the testing day, about six weeks beforehand. It's free, it is just as loud, and you can wander around the pits. A couple of videos and some images of the day here: https://writewheel.uk/historic-masters-2018/
I've got some problems with the exposure when videoing so they're a bit dull. Not sure what it might be.
I'll post some pictures of my paddock walkabout later. I've been away and also been bust so I'm well behind.
