Helmet painting - regs?

Hi,
Just bought a new lid and looking to get it painted, are there any regs surrounding this, type of paint used etc?
Plan is to get a base color airbrushed on, then have a guy hand paint a design, then have a clearcoat applied. Thinking more around what the hand artist will be doing and what paints he will be using. Are there any guidelines i can give him?
Additional question: my mate is looking to have his helmet wrapped instead of painted, is this allowed? If it makes any difference our local series runs to full FIA regs
