2021 V8 Supercars season
Discussion
There doesn't seem to be many threads on this series, but I plan to watch the 2021 season on superview. For £35 it's definitely worth it to me. Shame they are still limited to 1080p rather than 4k, but I guess that'll come eventually.
Quite a shakeup of not only the grid, but the TV crew too. Mark Larkham being let go is a big loss imo, Riana less so.
Having followed Mclaughlin since he started I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for this season. Be interesting to see how Reynolds gets on at Kelly's, having watched the excellent behind the scenes series, I can completely understand not wanting to work under Barry Ryan though.
Anyone else watch the series? I see the odd comments on here but not as many as I expected for what I think is a brilliant series.

The season starting with the Bathurst 500 helps make up for the loss of the Bathurst 12hrs.
I know what you mean. It's hard to swap allegiance to a different driver isn't it.
I try to like Shane, his car control is amazing, but sometimes I feel he goes just that bit over the line of bump to pass that I can't stick with him.

The biggest issue this year is the lack of Larko in the pits. It's a piss poor decision from Supercars that shows how out of touch they are with the fans at the moment.
He explained the race strategy options in a way that was easy to understand yet had obvious massive enthusiasm for it which came across everytime he was on camera. He'll be a loss to the series that's for sure.I am pleased they've kept Skaife and Crompton. They seem to have a good rapport and are extremely knowledgeable about the racing. Skaife with all his experience is very good and explaing a particular car issue or handling trait just from watch a few seconds of inboard footage.

I think what impresses me most about SVG is how versatile he is. V8s, GT's, single seaters, drifting, rallying... incredibly talented driver.
Agreed. He`s on the pace whatever he`s driving. I think what impresses me most about SVG is how versatile he is. V8s, GT's, single seaters, drifting, rallying... incredibly talented driver.
When he's been interviewed you can tell he isn`t comfortable with that side of the job. He`s eloquent enough but gives a `I really aren`t particularly enjoying this` vibe.

I've just signed up and paid for the Superview access via the Supercars website but it doesn't actually tell you how you then access the stream. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I did the same thing this morning. Try here?

That's where I keep ending up. Just seems quite an arse about face way of finding the stream. Surely they'd be better off with an App. Annoyingly after I'd signed up I saw that you can watch it through YouTube instead. It's a bit more expensive but ultimately easier to access than pissing about on their website watching the live stream.
I emailed digital@supercars.com, they refunded me the Superview subscription and I have now subscribed to the YouTube channel instead.Streams straight onto the TV like any other YouTube video, definitely worth the few extra £ imo
Race 2 was alright, Mostert on Anton when he exited the pits was a cracking lap, no contact, fair racing but firm.
SVG looked untouchable in both races didn't he.

Skaife gets on my nerves sometimes with his excessive use of the word "unbelievable !" but fair play to SVG. That race was nothing sort of astonishing and well deserved of the "That is unbelievable !" from Mark
Sandown looks a great track to race on and always seems to have overtaking and I'm really looking forward to the 2 races coming up.

Spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!!
But wouldn`t you expect talk about the race in this thread It`s the same with the F1 and BTCC threads, I don`t click them until I`ve watched the race. Fair enough if I posted a thread with the race result in the title, but I can`t see how discussing it in a thread specifically about the series is a spoiler.
What a great 3 races ! The conditions always make it more interesting and plenty examples of quick reactions and superb car control throughout the field, especially in the last race.
SVG was amazing this weekend, the fact he had to have someone else remove the HANS clip from his helmet showed how limited his movement was yet his driving was as good as I`ve ever seen him.

Is the Youtube stream LIVE only or can one watch the full race back when ever they want?
You can watch it whenever you want and if you start watching halfway through you can skip to any part of the recording so far. The Superview stream is either realtime or wait until the end then you can scroll back and forth in the recording but only after it's finished.
For most of us it doesn't really matter as its live whilst we are in bed anyway, although I did watch the qualifying and all 3 races live this weekend

I see SVG has had a 1st and 2nd in the GTs today whilst also winning the 6 hour. Man is a machine.
I thought they`d won the second GT race too. SVG led for his entire stint, but his teammate made a little mistake on the last lap and allowed the overtake. Second is a great result but SVG is untouchable right nowGassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
