A not so busy Spa6 this year and I watched an easy going qualification day:
I really don't care this is not the real deal. Seeing on IRL is insane. Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 / Tubolare Zagato 2.
Yeah, well: how cool is that!
Obviously a recreation / replica but who cares when a racing car looks so damn cool like the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe?

Double four Alfa Romeo mated to superchargers: yes please! This 8C is real and raced without restrictions.
Shelby Daytona Coupe looks impressive, until a person stands next to it. It's tiny!
Historic racer Peter Mallett was one of three pilots who raced the ex-Mike Bell Gilbert the Gilbern (GT).
"Hi Albert. We started 80th and finished 47th. Had hoped for higher but a puncture at Eau Rouge in my stint knocked us back. A very good run from Iain Rowley and David Smith gave us that finish." Shaped like a brick and slightly heavier than the MGB it is based on the GT laps Spa at 3:20s.
Ow yes. Porsche 911 (901) 2 litre yum.

Famous livery designer @davidechiappini_dcgraphics took a shot at this 1965 Porsche 911 and made it look happy.

BMW E9 3.0 CSL: back in 1972 1,265 were built as a homologation special to be eligible for racing in the European Touring Car Championship. Flames! Standard 3.2 litre has 206 ps in a 1,200 kgs shell. Competition cars should have almost double.
Wikipedia: "In 1973, Toine Hezemans won the European Touring Car Championship in a 3.0 CSL and co-drove a 3.0 CSL with Dieter Quester to a class victory at Le Mans. Hezemans and Quester had driven to second place at the 1973 German Touring Car Grand Prix at Nürburgring, being beaten only by Chris Amon and Hans-Joachim Stuck in another 3.0 CSL. 3.0 CSLs would win the European Touring Car Championship again in every year from 1975 to 1979. The 3.0 CSL was raced in the IMSA GT Championship in 1975, with Sam Posey, Brian Redman, and Ronnie Peterson winning races during the season. Easily the best sounding car of the grid was this Nicky Pastorelli Ford Capri RS3100 Group 2 with insane quad cam 3.1 litre Cosworth GAA V6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosworth#The_GA/GAA_...
Just look at that. Just look! DFV designer Mike Hall enlarged the original 3 litre to 3,412 cc: 462 ps at 9k revs! Nuff poke to haul the 1,040 kgs car to a spirited 2:40 lap.

Frieser in the Masters Endurance Legends Zytek Engineering 09S. Laps at 2:18 secs if you don't mind!
This Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S has a 4.5 litre, 635 hp Zytek ZJ458 naturally-aspirated V8 engine. And it sounds great. Only 900 kgs... Grid of 24 was an awesome sight. Quickest Lola Aston DBR1-2 did a solid 2:10. Fuk me!
RS3100 is a peach. Maybe check out the DHG Racing website to see their cars.

Spa 6 Hrs: Hart/Hart/Pastorelli Ford GT40 2:41.9... Insane times compared to my maiden trip in 2006. And back then folks shook their heads when Shaun Lynn tipped 2:47.

Alfa Romeo 8C and Maserati 26 (this one) are pure porn. In my eye and mind this is a league beyond Bugatti.
There's so much to see on these 30s racers. Laptimes are 3:30 plus. Which I think is quite an achievement considering the bicycle tires!
The Bates/Bates Porsche 2 litre 911: 3:02 qualification and P48 in the Six Hours race.
Bates/Bates also drove this Porsche 911 RSR in the Masters Historic Sports Car race and qualified in a quick 2:47 secs.

The car is painted in the colours of Norwich City FC, the club that Mike supported.
I thought the Escort was his because in 2010 I saw him driving a similar liveried (then) 240 brake riot Ford at Portimao. Wilcox power right? He talked me trough the car. What a friendly guy. We always had a brief chat at Spa.

On with the show: check out this insane Keen/McAlpine Kurtis 500S: 300 bhp Cadillac V8 and under 5 secs to 100 kmh.
Impressive and jaw dropping rare Kurtis Kraft monster.
The 500S makes a Morgan seem posh.
Kurtis Kraft combined the Lotus Seven philosophy with a Cobra touch, long before both cars were even made! Only 36 were built. Fibreglass body and Detroit power. What's not to like?
Quicker stuff:
Werner in Lotus 81 (1980 and 1981 season) lapped a sunny Spa in 2:19 if you don't mind. Ace drivers Mario Andretti and Elio de Angelis used the 81 in all 14 rounds of the 1980 Formula One world championship. Nigel Mansell debut car! DFV power in a 580 kgs shell.

Christian Pfessdorf drove a superb looking Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (3:12) in the combined Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy race.
Eddie McGuire brought the Scarab Offenhauser to the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association and noted an impressive 2:59 laptime. Huge monoblock 2.5 fourpot looks majestic.
2:51.5 hot lap for the Briones / Horn Porsche 911 RSR.
2:28 McInerney Mosler MT900R: 1,000 kgs and 5.7 L LS1 V8 > what's not to like? - Roadcar is a favorite. Think half a million USD...
Last one of that beautiful Alfa Romeo TZ2 replica car. Kamm tail!
They are tiny compared to nowadays Porsche 911. Lava Orange 2 litre car.

These cars are quite light, think 680 - 750 kgs. Power is adequate and beauty is complementary. Wheels at the corners would make for a perfect drivers car.
