Morning All,

On Wednesday 27th May we'll be landing in Calais at approx. midday, headed for Mugello for the MotoGP over the weekend 30th/31st.

I'm trying to plan a route combining motorway/Autobahn and some more scenic/fun roads that sees us arrive on the evening of Friday 29th.

There are plenty of good roads to pick up en route but realistically we're not going to be able to do them all and they're going to have to be spread over the two legs of the journey.

One of the main frustrations when using any of the more well-known, online route planners, is that they only really work point to point and regardless of how many 'via' points/roads you put in, they always want to drag you off to a quicker route.

Is there a site/app/anything that anyone can recommend for plotting a route, perhaps by road rather than place or am I stuck with Google Maps and dragging the dots around until I'm happy?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for a route either way that picks up some good Alps roads or the B500 through the Black Forest etc. it'd be much appreciated.

Cheers

That's useful, thanks.
I wasn't aware of the 'Discovery' option and usually just get frustrated with the Via Michelin site when it keeps teeling me that it can't calculate my route but not why!

I think we might try and to something similar on day 1 i.e. get to Stuttgart or Baden Baden and then the B500 plus Alps pass on day 2 and Italy on day 3.

Those who've done it would favour going via Germany rather than through France? Just for the unrestricted bit?
For the experience of attempting a vmax on the autobahn or for covering ground quickly?
We did Milan to Calais in less than 1.5 days via French toll roads last year without any bother at all, they're ideal for covering distance, if a little expensive...
