"It's nothing like a Golf" hehe

Well after passing my test in November last year and starting work in February, the saving for a car began, initially i was looking at Polo's etc... but was amazed i could get insured on a Punto Sporting at a reasonable price, looked at the car on Monday evening, the deal was done on Tuesday and i picked her up last night. Absolutely love it biggrin

Really nice, quite refined too, not too loud and comfortable. Performance is pretty decent as well.

very nice indded, also looking for a first car, how much are you paying insurance? canget it under £3500 !!!!! :-(
I am 19 and was quoted £2100 with the Co - Op. I find adding your parents as named/additional drives can bring the quote down a little bit if they have a clean license and a few years NCB.

Nice car 6 speed aren't they?
I considered the 1.4 100bhp sporting but found the insurance was stupidly expensive for the performance on offer my ZR worked out £500 cheaper at the time redface
Yep 6 speed.

Nice one Adam, exactly the same as mine cosmetically however yours has the side skirts on that mine didn't. Also you're looks like a 1.4 or bigger where as mine was only a 1.2 16v (for insurance reasons at 17). Great cars absolutely loved mine, understeered like the QE2 in the wet though so fitted a Pi shorter spring and damper kit which dropped it by 30mm at the front and 15mm at the rear, made it handle and look miles better. Enjoy it chap smile

Best colour to.

My car is one budget tyres at the moment so will change those at some point, understeers on roundabouts no problem even at slow speeds, i.e, 3rd gear 25 mph.

It'll be a laugh.

The words of advice I can give you for driving are :
-Don't crash
-Don't get caught speeding (like me)
-Don't drink and drive

hehe if you have an urge towards an MR2 your welcome to come out in ours.
I will look at a circuit car next year when the funds are stronger, MR2, Clio 172 (although i have read from yourself and a few others they cant see what the fuss is all about) E36 3 series ( bit obvious though) or maybe an Integra Type R. RWD will be more fun though.

Small update on the Punto.

It has developed a drive shaft oil leak, rubber seal has perished so is booked in to have it replaced, i am also having the other replaced as it makes sense to do so. Fiat quoted me £170, shopped around and have chosen ABP Motorsport http://www.abpmotorsport.co.uk/abp-homepage to do the work, specialise in all cars, mainly Japanese and have quoted £125 all in. Booked in for Friday. Happy days.

Well Patrick, the only goal left is to buy my first car before 2013. I WILL do that. smile
Dont have to rush into it Jay, i waited until i got the funds sorted and looked at loads of cars, get as much info on each car your interested in, look at potential pitfalls and test drive a few cars, if you test drive something which was not what you expected, test drive another example. I looked at a Yellow Punto Sporting, 53 plate and was awful, cosmetically and felt horrid to drive, mine was a lot better and only £300 more.
