As requested a new thread with details of my GTR replacement after the freak hail storm we experienced in the midlands.

This is a big one for me as many years back sat with a group of friends I set myself a target to get into a ferrari by the time I was 25, If you have followed my previous threads you will know how good I am feeling now! I ve managed it early and boy am I chuffed, with business going well being completely finished uni the last few months I have been 100% focused on my career.

The car, a 2002 Ferrari 360 spider manual finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero Carbon bucket seats and red carpets. A 2 owner car with the all important belt service being completed early this year. The car is in unbelievable condition for the age with the only marks on the whole car being very slight wear on the driver bolster and a 20p sized piece of laquer peal on the front bumper. I am totally smitten by the car and cant stop driving it.. some say I might be mad but I am going to be using the car as my daily driver, I don't do many miles and also have the use of the stock cars in the business I work alongside. As with my last couple of car I am going to advertise it over the next few weeks at a keen price and enjoy it until someone comes along with an interest. I feel with the seats and history it is a very special example.

Previous thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Jobs to carry out:

Have bolster scuff dyed

Full Protection detail

Laquer peel rectified

New rear tyres

Clean and reproof hood

Sell private plate currently on it to cover any running costs whilst I own it

Pics after quick wash:

Top job! Why not just keep it a while though?

TX.
I will keep it while but as with my last cars if theres a good profit offered to me I would sell it and move on... I feel with the time of year I will be holding onto it until next year as we are approaching the end of the summer convertible season!

something like that

if he's doing everything above board then good for him, but the figures just don't stack up

i've seen it before on here

people claiming to make massive profits and most of the time it's because they were being dodgy bds

one example was a guy who was clocking then selling on

another was someone who was buying CAT C and D and fixing them up and selling them as not damaged and unrecorded

people make a couple of grand on cars every day of the week

but i'm just very critical on anyone who happens to make mega profits on cars which are depreciating

it's not like what he's trading in are rare models

maybe i'm just a skeptical person, but thats the way i see things

and i'm in no way accusing the OP of an illegal activity just doesn't add up as i see it

Comments like this really get to me, a lot of people I went school with are now living on benefits popping kids out like no tomorrow to claim more. I have paid taxes since I was 16 working in a supermarket to get money in the first place to start trading cars.. I don't need to show you accounts etc but lets just say I will have a monumental tax bill next year so when people assume I am not paying anything it really gets under my skin. Ive gone through uni and am now going to be putting a lot back into society from the tax I will pay over my lifetime. The profits on each car havent been the whole sum that has got me into the next car I spend literally every penny I get on cars. If I was doing something dodgy would I really be stupid enough to post it all over internet forums, or to have agreed to a national magazine article and numerous local articles... I think not

Mate, just get on with it, enjoy your cars, I personally think the only thing you are guilty of is revealing too much.
If you'd left out your age and profession nobody would of raised an eyebrow. Just because someone asks what you do etc, doesn't mean you're obligated to answer.
If I were you I'd not say any more of the subject of what you do and how you do it, but please continue to share with us the cars you have, afterall, it's why we're all here.
I think your right all I want to do is stay on topic of the cars I am nuts about cars and want to share that on here as everybody else does

This has just turned comical now and ridiculous on a forum which is meant to be about cars!

My parents don't like the idea I am now looking to move out now my studies are over as I am the MAIN contributor to the household bills, I am trying not to get pissed off but when I have friends that have mega rich parents paying for brand new cars for them and letting them live home board free whilst they are in £25k + jobs it makes my blood boil. When I move out I am going to contribute to the bills still as my mum only works part time. Ive just paid for them to go on a 2 week cruise in December... how many people my age have done that for their parents. I feel its really ridiculous how some people can be on here when the focal point is meant to be on cars. The forum never used to be like this its clearly now allowing people that just want to slate others efforts. Its nice to tell what I have done as I get volumes of emails off others just starting uni saying its given them the drive to want to do similar, something which this country desperately needs now!

The topic on what is it like compared to the GTR, well the GTR in my opinion is the benchmark in performance cars if you want a car to get from A-B as quickly as possible nothing touches the GTR I was astonished by its capabilities. Its the only car Ive had that was that quick around the lanes I always go it made a few of my freinds feel physically sick it had that much grip!!! I will own another as a daily driver in the future they are epic...

BUT the ferrari just makes me feel that much better, walking up to it I am stunned by its presence, waiting for the ignition check before firing it up feels great and the noise not only when taking it to 8000rpm through a tunnel even cruising at 2500-3000 rpm makes the hairs stand up on my neck! I know and feel that the 360 isnt as quick as the GTR but most of my passengers so far think it does feel quicker which I think is down to the noise and how low down you are. The brakes on the Ferrari are much better than I expected so is the build quality.

I opted for the manual as I drove an F1 last year and it just felt such old technology especially after driving the GTR which its rapid changes. I just love the noise of going into gear in the slots! I think a manual ferrari is more appealing than an F1 box but I suppose I will have to see what response I get when selling it!

Thanks for the kind words of others, lets try and stay on topic now as others have said this has gone way off the thread compared with other posts I have done!

How is that on a news website? Did the guy phone the local papers himself? Cringeworthy to say the least...

I'm sorry but this thread and that 'news' article confirm he's basically just showing off..I said before I really don't think it's necessary to state your age/how well your business is doing/ blah blah if you don't want anyone to comment on it...(FELIX is an absolute tool though)

I know i'll probably get some responses staying i'm jealous, but believe me i'm not. wink
I was urged to do that by my university for publicity for them, it got me some free vouchers from the uni and got me some other benefits, I did feel it was cringey but I didnt phone them I was approached. I have been approached quite a few times and only done a couple of things. At the time I wasn't sure which career path I wanted to take and doing the few publicity things I ve done has sat me with numerous job offers in different industries... I certainly don't regret doing it

Reading through the last few threads, I can't see it's that difficult to understand....

He works for a car dealership who are good enough to let him buy a few cars on the side that he runs for a while and then sells on.

He then uses this profit, coupled with his earnings to trade up to the next car.

At the end of the day he's mortgage and kid free, so buying cars at this level isn't all that difficult.

People chose to do things differently, I'd bought my second house at the same age as the OP, and wait a few years for the Fez, he's chosen to spend his money on cars first.

OP tell me if what I've written is vastly incorrect?
correct I have only been working alongside another car dealer for around 3 months though which is handy for selling the level of car I am at now

don't know why your quoting 30k for a 360? thats like bottom of the barrel, 70'000 mile, lhd, ropey service history in burgundy with 12 owners. i hate it when people value a car model based on the crapest example available.

anyway OP, beautiful car in the best spec! any plans to modify (maybe scuderia wheels and tricolore stripes?). also, from a practicality point of view, how thirsty is it compared to the gtr?
Stradale 19 inch wheels and the tricolour stripes would be something I would literally LOVE to do, but unless some wheels come up cheap I wouldnt do it as there would need to be a financial benefit to me something which is unusual with modifying.

With regards to thirst I am not sure next tank I will record the mileage and work it out but with the Tubi exhaust sounds like its chucking some serious fuel out the back with some of the pops and burbles on the over run!

Really like TVR Tamoras too.

So for insurance purposes I presume you have a motor traders policy as the vehicles are being bought and sold as stock (considering you pay tax too)?
No I don't have a motortraders policy as they all say I am too young and want around £7000, they said if I had premises it would be considerably cheaper. As they are personal cars registered in my name they need to be covered by a normal policy. I will always use admiral as I have said before NO ONE can touch them on price for my age and the cars I own and I have now experienced what they are like when paying out after the hail claim and eventually they were very fair!

Another very important question:

1. What kind of female attention does the Ferrari give you compared to the GTR?

whistle
Wondered how long it would take for that question :P Having only had it a week or so its hard to tell yet but being single for the first time in 5 years I will find out soon I guess lol off on holiday tomorrow for a week so she will be tucked away under her cover whilst I am gone!

Been extremely busy and have not had anytime to do anything with the car apart from driving it really. I should have some photos somewhere of a few road trips have had with mates. Its having new rear tyres fitted tomorrow which are not as expensive as I thought they would be! £440 the pair... reasonable for a Ferrari I think.

Update in terms of driving I have been surprised with how useable it is, I use it every day whether it be going to work, the gym, weekends away. One update which I am not to happy to report was around a month ago it had paint thrown over it outside my parents house. Luckily it was just a water based kids type paint and was noticed quickly enough to wash off. Police think its just some jealous tt but it has worried me about leaving it parked outside on the road all the time.

Another reason for not updating is after the paint thing its worried me about drawing any attention to myself and there are far too many haters on pistonheads as seen from the majority of my threads people seem to find it hard to concentrate on my cars which is what the section is supposed to be about.

OP,

Congratulations on why you have achieved so far.......

When do you plan on selling the car or is it 'always' for sale ?

Do you have a specific type of car in mind for your next buy ? Or does it just depend on what comes along at the right price ?

Just saw the newspaper article , how does a £20k 996 turbo increase in value by £10k in 2 months ????? Did you just buy at a very very good price or spend £££'s on it yourself ?

Oh and how much you selling the Ferrari for ? Fancy a V8 Vantage Roadster in part-ex smile
My cars are "always" for sale I have no rush to sell them so usually advertise them around a month after purchasing.

Regarding the 996 turbo article, not sure where that figure came from the journalist on the story "added" alot to the story. I didnt make an awful lot on the Turbo in fact it was probably one of my worst profits.

Regarding the Sale of the Ferrari feel free to PM me as your not allowed to discuss sale details on the forums smile

What a tool!!

Sorry to hear about the damage; it was the abuse and constant worry that made me sell my 360, in the end it detracted more from the ownership that the pleasure it gave me....it's a shame we have to live amongst the jealous wkers and are almost made to feel guilty because we own something nice!
I was warned before buying it that it would happen... alot of people said if your going to buy a ferrari to get one in a less flashy colour ie silver/black but for me it had to be Rosso Corsa! Not been spat at yet but many other Ferrari owners seem to have experience of this.

Its quite a hefty amount more to insure it in the garage plus it wouldn't fit unfortunately. I have a Ferrari cover with the car but I dont think its suitable for outdoor use, I have considered an outdoor cover but I use the car so often that it would not be very practical to keep putting it on and removing it.
