thought i would start a new thread regarding my Focus Rs as it has now done 100k
I bought the car in 2006
I kept the car stock for @ 18 months before adding a Dreamscience remap & decat pipe which took it up to 265bhp & i ran it like this for a few months until the turbo seals went which i upgraded to a Turbo Technics hybrid which bought the power up to 285bhp
I then added a tubular manifold & an upgraded charge cooler rad which took it to 307bhp but at the time i discovered it was not boosting fully which was rectified & i have also done the rest of the exhaust so it goes quite a bit better although i have not had it on the rollers since.
It pulled a very good 13.5 1/4 & a proven 157mph over a standing mile (the limiter in 5th)so im very happy with that performance & it can upset quite a few 'better' cars
The car still drives great & bar the turbo & a clutch it has only needed normal wear & tear & service items, it is an easy car to work on & has never been touched by anyone bar me except for a gearbox repair that was done under warranty by Ford
Ive serviced it every 5k since i bought it & i think this has a bearing on how well it still runs.
I have covered 70k of the miles in my ownership & i have loved every minute i had a bit of a wobble last year when i put the car up for sale but after looking around long & hard i decided i couldnt replace it so its staying put with me.
The bodywork is starting to show its age with stonechips & where someone drove into it in my work car park so once the insurance is sorted it will be going in for a windows down respray to get it looking its best again which im really looking forward to
I bought this car on a whim after going to look at an Evo & it was one of the best decisions ive ever made its proven a fast reliable car & i cannot honestly think of any other car that would have ticked as many boxes as this one.

With its newer version (sw02tecs car)
With some Vauxhalls
The one & only time it let me down (due to a roll pin in the gear selector)

They are lovely cars no doubt about it. How are they holding up underneath at this mileage as a few standard focuses i have seen up on ramps recently seem to be rotting a lot in various places.
I have a very small amount of corrosion just starting on the edges of the rear arches from stone chips but that will be done when it's painted, a few have had problems on the edge of the front wings where the bumper brackets are but apart from that they hold up really well rb5er said:
I was thinking more the underside of the cars, went to see 4 st170's all with rusting sumps, rear suspension points and floor etc. But never seen an RS as rusty as that. Better factory rustproofing perhaps?
Sumps still rot out bit replacement is cheap enough not to be an issue, subframes get surface corrosion but nothing else my one is very good considering it lives outside & is drivenIn all weathers

Ive looked at your car a fair bit over the years on here and it always looks so well looked after. Great looking car and glad its being run properly!
Thankyou Had some news from the insurers at last it seems the claim for the guy that hit my car at work is finally getting somewhere car will come back looking like new
Thanks for the comments I don't believe in buying a car & not using it!

If I hadnt ended up with my 350 I think I would currently be in one of these thanks heavily to your decent threads. 300 bhp RWD was just too much to say no to considering I did NEED more than 2 seats.
300bhp is easy in a rs oj121 said:
That then takes it away from being the ultimate hot hatch to becoming a death trolley!!! I may actually pick up an RS in the next few years if I can sort out a nice swap. Im going to enjoy my RWD plaything for a while yet though.
They do sideways quite well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6c02XQwk3c

How do the MK1 RS compare with the Mk2 STs? They are around the same price now and a mate of mine is looking at both but prefers the sound of the 5 pot, the major difference I think is the weight and LSD.
I have told him to consider a R26 Megane or aazda 3 MPS as well as both have LSD as standard.
Very differant cars the st is the more accomplished motorway cruiser & can have more toys but the Rs is better at everything else, dont get hung up on having a lsd though the St is a good car & has lower running costs than the Mazda (silly tax band for a start) & is a much stronger/ more reliable than the Renault which is closer to the mk1 Rs for driving experiance.I have told him to consider a R26 Megane or aazda 3 MPS as well as both have LSD as standard.
Well cars been dropped off at http://www.legendvs.com/ will be back in a couple of weeks
Cars getting there martin at the bodyshop has created an album on his facebook page (legend vehicle specialists) or a thread here http://www.focusrsec.co.uk/showthread.php?3719-Nei...
He really is going all out on it

Are you having a full respray? Looking for a place in Kent to have my Z3 refreshed and this looks a proper enthusiasts place. Can I ask costs?
I'm having a windows down respray the guys at legend are true car enthusiasts & their work is of a very high standard as you can see the price I am paying is extremely reasonable for the amount of work involved They are a friendly bunch so your best bet is to pop in & see Martin he will go through what options are available & give you a price
Don't forget to mention me if you do

Tbh it's life has been made easier as I've bought another escort van to run around in so will be only used for pleasure now rather than a Daily driver This makes me more tempted to get my RS properly sorted and made mint! If only I didnt have another 1000 projects on the go!
