Time for another update, chassis being delivered a week Friday thumbup panic stations at home as garage only got plastered on Friday, still got to paint walls and floor, fit lights and make a workbench!...

Managed to pick a few bits up along the way, starting with the transaxle a UN1-13

It needed a little tlc so after a quick trip up north it came back like this

Also got a dash board which was kindly delivered 100mils by the seller for free

Sadly on delivery he failed to see my Dad's car and only stopped after pushing it 4ft into the road!!! furiousfrown

doh!!

This was the last time I saw my chassis, I have this, all of the aluminium for the paneling and the build stands coming with my first delivery.

Delivery pics to come biggrin

wow, that gearbox looks like new...
how did they do that?
Not sure, but I would guess by using copius amounts of cash on it laugh

It does look lovely, going to be a great build I suspect....
Ha ha, if there is one thing that is lacking in this build it is copious amounts of cash....

I think it involved sand blasting and a hell of a lot of elbow grease.

Woohoo, it arrived yesterday...

Unfortunately this rubbish weather has meant I have been unable to paint the floor as it's too cold which in turn means I can't build a work bench, so it will probably be a few weeks before I can get cracking, can't wait though.

Make sure you keep that second last picture as that is exactly the type of photo you should submit when you apply for IVA.

Steve

Thanks, but why that picture specifically? Is there a prerequisite for having a one year old girl in it pre IVA?

Small update.

Picked up some seats then moved the car out for a few days and got the floor painted, it was somewhat brighter than I thought it would be in fact it looks like I have murdered several Smurfs in there....

Going to start on the work bench next then hopefully get cracking with the build.

Cheers for the support, I will keep it updated as I go but it may be a month or two before I can really get cracking as I have to decorate the hall, stairs and landing before I'm allowed to start frown. Still hope to get the block wall painted and the work bench built in that time too..

Out of interest, what engine are you planning on using?
I plan to fit a relatively tame Ford small block 302ci V8 prob with a Holley carb on it making somewhere around 300-350bhp, I would love the quad Webers but budget won't stretch to them or the thing will never get built....

Car will be Gulf colours (of course) and will be wide arched with a single deep vent. Hoping to get time to start in the next week, still not built the work bench though frown
Loving the idea of donations, all funds will be greatly appreciated wink

Well I have started! Managed to get a couple of evenings in the garage and this is the results so far...

As you willl see the painting of the wall has not happened nor has my workbench been built but I have got a temporary bench which was my late Grandads so a pleasure to have and use and may even stay as I'm getting quite attached to it.

Then on with the build...

And started fitting the front panel, not quite in there yet though.

Update time biggrin. Getting there slowly but surely.... Not sure how long the pics will last as about to exceed my PhotoBucket download limit! whistle

Bit annoyed with myself for setting the first rivet at the wrong end of the panel therefore ending up with an extra rivet in a daft place on the upper front corner:thumbsdown: should have just left it out really but too late now...

Steering rack in.... smile

Mrs Hoonigan had her friends over tonight so a little more progress made....

Think I may have gone a little rivet crazy on these ones, hope I don't live to regret it!

What sort of rivet gun do you use to do this? Probably not the one from down the local DIY for £4.99 I assume?
Now that's a coincidence, I was the last poster on your thread too.....

But in answer to your question, no. I bought an air powered one that does all the hard work with the squeeze of a finger, I would need arms like Popeye to do it manually for all those rivets.
