My new Supra - 650bhp T88-34D Single Turbo
Discussion
Having owned my first Supra - a 1994 040 Super White II SZ NA-TT W58 5 speed manual - for almost 4 years, I evaluated whether I should continue to work with what I had and opt for a 6 speed conversion and eventually single turbo conversion on the car, or to shop around. I decided to make the decision to cut my losses and search for a new car.
I spotted a lovely 1998 VVTi RZ-S with a T04Z turbo kit and an astonishingly low 13k miles available in Japan that Jurgen posted up. I dwelled on the car for quite a while and eventually decided to go ahead and put a deposit down on it. Getting in contact with Jurgen, we got the ball rolling. Sadly, the car had actually sold in Japan a day or 2 before we could secure it and it wasn't to be. Having already committed to a new car of such a spec, I decided to leave my deposit in Jurgen's hands and find myself another car. Keeping in mind how high a standard I had chosen initially, it would have to be something pretty special for me to want to pull the trigger again. I was determined though! I browsed through a number of sites for cars available in Japan and finally spotted another car. It was a 1997 RZ 6 speed VVTi with a GReddy T88-34D turbo kit.
I have probably driven Jurgen up the wall with my countless questions regarding this car, but I wanted to make sure that I was buying the right one and getting everything absolutely perfect with it.
I am in fact unsure of the full spec, but will soon find out once the car arrives in the country. What I do know is that it has the following:

GReddy T88-34D Single Turbo Kit

HKS F-Con V Pro ECU (tuned by HKS Kansai)

Defi DSSC Dash

GReddy Profec B Spec-II Boost Controller

FMIC (I can only assume a Trust/GReddy)

Tein Coilovers (model yet to be determined)

Recaro fixed bucket driver seat(someone can surely inform me of the model)

OEM Recaro Confetti passenger seat

Ridox Front Bumper

OEM Sideskirts

17" AVS Alloys (I don't know the model)

UK Spec Brakes

Blitz Nur Spec exhaust

SARD Decat
I figure that with the T88-34D turbo kit it will have suitable sized injectors, fuelling setup, possibly cams etc. I will find out in due course.
As far as the wheels and bumper, I wasn't a fan of either. I like the Ridox front, but would want the full kit if I was going to have it. The wheels just aren't my thing in the slightest. Following some discussions with Jurgen, it was decided that I will supply him with an OEM facelift front bumper which will be painted and fitted in place of the Ridox offering. Further to this, the wheels will be coming off in favour of a set of my dream wheels - CCW Classics. The spec of which are:

18x10 front, 18x11.5 rear

Fully polished finish

No Swiss

CCW branded centre caps

3mm spacer, lug nuts, mounting and balancing as per provided package

Toyo R888 285/30/18 and Toyo R888 315/30/18
The car will also be undersealed and fitted with a Thatcham approved CAT1 alarm system on arrival.
A couple of parts I have already purchased (they were for my White Supra before I decided to go down this route) will be fitted once I get the car back home - an APR HKS Kansai Carbon Fibre Splitter and a Shine Auto Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser. They should set off the front and back perfectly. I also have some Top Secret (replica) skirts, but I think I'll give the OEM skirts a go to begin with as I think they will work well with the Kansai lip in terms of styling similarities.
Unfortunately, we missed the boat at the end of April as it was a little late in being finalised at this end so there wasn't time to get everything sorted overseas, though it will be on the boat at the end of this month and should be ready for collection in July if I'm not mistaken.
I have a few pictures at hand from the original advert and also some that Jurgen sent me from the dock. Here they all are:

Still looks great after all these days.
Supras are ageing very well.
I would agree with that Supras are ageing very well.
Sadly the pictures posted up to represent the Supra is often a tired looking red UK spec or suchlike, whereas a facelift model in black, white, RSP (royal sapphire pearl blue), jade green, gunmetal grey etc. still looks pretty modern. All they need is a subtle drop and a set of wheels from stock

Liking your plans - looks like you're building the perfect useable Supra.
Let's see some pics of the wheels in the mean time
Thanks very much - it should be a good spec once all is said and done yep Let's see some pics of the wheels in the mean time
The wheels were sent direct to the importer so that the arches can be rolled accordingly on arrival and I can just drive away

Very jealous. That's a lovely looking car you have there, glad the current wheels are going though!
Thanks! Yep me too, the change of wheels will transform the car from looking alright to looking great I reckon MGZRod said:
Do you know Scott Forbes, james? He's just had an S15 imported, arrived in the UK end of last week I think.
I sure do - I'm good mates with Scott. Both cars were meant to be arriving together but mine just missed the boat. Would have been handy for both travelling down too!MovingShadow said:
Yo dawg, I heard you liked a Supra so we strapped a car on to that turbo
Indeed! It is quite the gargantuan compared to the stock twins!TVR Tommy said:
If you want to sell the AVS wheels when you get the car let me know I could be interested.
No bother Tommy. I'm not sure what is happening with those wheels yet but I'll let you know!bazza1000 said:
Your long wait is almost over not too much longer now, looks really nice plus one monster turbo on it!
For sure, I can't wait for the next 4 weeks to pass!myles1972 said:
Lovely, I just love the cabin on these, the driver is so separate from the passenger, in the driving seat of the Millennium Falcon!
Completely agree! I love the driving position and interior layout. Very enclosed. Similar to older Corvettes. Just great! With this big GReddy turbo, it may feel like light speed too Thanks for the comments folks, I appreciate the kind words
I knew that the wheels would be a game changer and they didn't disappoint when I saw how the car was sitting. When the carbon bits go on it'll be even better

I would love one of these but my technical knowledge isn't up to par to own one i dont think and being 25 i think my insruance would be sky high... by the time it's actually viable for me to own one they will have all probably be in car heaven
I got my first (twin turbo) Supra when I was 21. I'm recently 25 now. Insurance isn't as bad as you may imagine. Unless you've been a naughty boy of course! Holy mother of...
The car is excellent! Looks perfect, amazing condition, awesome mods and my god, the power and delivery is something else!
Had a few pulls on low boost (1 bar) to get acquainted with it and then put it up to 1.3 bar (650bhp) and ooft! Sounds great, feels great, handles well and the wheels... Ace! Just ace!
Heard that the turbo would be really laggy and that I should look into other options but I love the delivery and kick of it as is! I'll be keeping it just as is for a good while! To go for any more power would require some work on the head and bottom end before even looking at turbo options. To be fair though, this turbo will see around 850 anyway!
All in all, I'm really happy with it! Had a lovely day for driving up too so couldn't have asked for much more. Even had a wee run against a GTR and also an R8. Hmm, bye bye to both as it turned out
Here are a few pics from an elated owner!

As it transpired, this weekend was a fun one with the car! Went down to Driftland in Fife with Team Beard. Nice little drive down and as it ended up won club stand of the show - we only had my Supra, marcAB10's Supra, Monsween's Supra, a GS300 and 2 mk1 MX-5s! Great success!
Here are a few pictures from the journey to the show and of the cars on the stand:
A good one showing the arch flare:
Following the show, we decided to get things in motion with my pending parts! Last night resulted in finally getting the carbon HKS Kansai lip and Shine carbon diffuser fitted! I'm really pleased with both parts! That has been almost a year that I've had them both so to finally see them fitted is great! I don't know of any other carbon Kansai lips in the UK either? This pleases me
I much prefer the diffuser being on there as well as the height all the way round is balanced a little more and it compliments the lip as well. Awesome!
I don't know of anything else that I want to do to the exterior apart from put on my private plate (unless I eventually smooth the aerial, rear washer nozzle + wiper etc.) so I think it is externally complete! Now it is just a case of enjoying it as is!

The wheels are +50 all round. That is the 'Supra fitment' that CCW make. If I wanted a more aggressive layout then I would have had to opt for the CCW LM20 instead of the Classic model, though I'd struggle to get the bigger tyre on. A friend has a different set of wheels in +24 (I think running a spacer as well now actually) and had to put on much narrower tyres to clear. It looks great for stance, but that wasn't the route I was wishing to go so the +50 works out great for accommodating the 315.
I was at a Scottish Capri Club meet on Sunday. There is a little oval track at the venue so I took the car round. By the time I was getting towards the top of 2nd I had to put the anchors on for the corners. It sounded good though Here are the pictures and a video that someone took:
