1999 Rover 75 Diesel

Well it's time for my yearly thread again. With a relocation coming up I have been thinning my fleet out, and as such any cars that weren't getting used / were costing me too much money had to go. My daily V6 petrol Rover 75 was utterly lovely, but realistically wasn't suited to the mileage I was mainly doing, and was sometimes only returning 26mpg, so it's gone. In its place I have obtained another Rover 75, a year older than the V6, diesel and almost five times the mileage.
It was last MOT'd in 2011 and was sat in the previous owner's garage with a leaking heater matrix until June this year. Before it was put away for that time it had had a new clutch as well as a new turbo & associated bits and bobs. My mechanic saved it from almost certain scrapping, stripped it out, put a new heater matrix in, new carpets and interior (old one was green & growing things!) and has been working on various mechanical bits that needed doing in his spare time. As of this morning it has a nice fresh clean MOT sheet and tax.
Took delivery in the dark last night, so didn't get to see much of it, but here's how it stood this morning:
The mileage is already epic, but I would love to see it get over 300,000. That would be wonderful - and there are plenty that have done it! It has come with a whole wadge of receipts, but it's a bit surreal looking at a receipt for a repair at 150,000 miles, and realising that was over a decade ago!
Anyway, she's cleaned up nicely and looking almost respectable this afternoon:

Good spot! Because one tyre on the thing was causing an MOT fail. As part of the deal I'm able to swap my set of wheels form my last one on to this with almost new & matching tyres. So as of next week it'll be back on the correct alloys!Fun Bus said:
Ah, I see! I also notice it was originally registered in Nottinghamshire - originally supplied by Priory Rover perhaps?
I've had a look through the paperwork and it doesn't appear to go back that far. I do have its first MOT certificate in 2002 though with over 100,000 miles on. I wonder if it was a fleet car.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
