Hi all

I recently bought my first Merc, a c63 amg saloon and what a lot of fun this car is,the 6.2ltr v8 is just addictive to me and i fear i may become a bit of a hooligan as every drive is an event i look forward to.As the dark nights have closed in i find myself slipping out around 8pm and heading towards the local country roads to indulge myself again and again until my ears are ringing with the v8 howl.Overtaking is a real blast and very enjoyable, in fact i overtake almost as much as i did in the GTD(joke).

I purposely looked for a silver toned down version as the car is a daily which is used for business, also i don't really like the gangster look,so it blends a little until you start it up which gives the game away.I took my eldest out in it yesterday which was a lot of fun as he loved revving it out and enjoying the noise.I purchased the car from the Mercedes approved used stock so it has a two year warranty and came with 21k on the clock, and as you would expect the car has really been looked after with plenty left in the pads and discs.

Insurance was a little obstacle as my insurer insisted on a tracker before they provide cover, so i ended up going elsewhere to people who weren't so fussy as i needed the car urgently by this point but all sorted now and legal.Fuel consumption is about 21mpg currently but i honestly don't care as it makes me smile.

Pics to follow.

Really want one, sadly it's owned by one too many gangsters. Will consider a touring in the future.
Sump, just get a stealthy version like mine, and dress smartly wearing no gold chains haha,it works for me.

Enjoy - looks lovely!

I went for full on gangster spec, white with black wheels.

I have to be sure to wear my smartest attire at all times to counteract this.

Fantastic cars, and anyone who doesn't buy one just because a couple of chavs happen to own one is missing out!
Absolutely agree, to deny yourself this engine due to the actions of strangers is bizarre to me,after all they all provide the same pleasure, enjoy.

phib- Haha yes but think the exhausts give it up just cruising.

sebhaque- Very nice looking car there.I had mine delivered to home, due to distance and time issues, but i did have the pleasure of thrashing through the city while dropping the salesman at the station for his journey home,as i say it brings out the hooligan in me!

15mpg,it seems i'm not trying hard enough as mentioned. The salesman used half a tank delivering the car, around 180 miles at 70mph he said,so if you can control your urges it is possible to have decent range, but that's not going to happen i guess...

I've got a grey wagon myself. It's a great family car for me but I think it's getting ridiculous how fast I drive sometimes. I've put a lid on it a bit now but you just can't help it. With the windows down it sounds amazing. Cold starts are like a bomb has exploded. It's a shame the image is ruined by people who think these cars belong in the city driving like idiots. These cars are wasted in the city.
You're right it is very hard to resist that lovely sound,on the way out of the city yesterday there are two tunnels with two lanes, into lane two,it's clear drop window and boooom!,i was giggling to myself like a child but it is such good fun with no harm done, just have to work on that mpg now.

Congrats on the car, It is a beast, mine has the secondary cat/res delete with a remap. I do my driving mostly around London, but filling up every 2 days gets quite boring.

5mpg- that is some going there.

Mackie - 30mpg real self discipline in action.

The only thing putting me off this car as family transport is the low-rent interior. Owners - how OK is it to live with, really?

it's why I'm looking more seriously at the E63.

I find it fine, the seats are very comfortable, the dash simple and uncluttered, for me it's more about the n/a engine.

Jamieduff - I agree, that's why i chose it.

Great car OP, but then again I'm slightly biased... biglaugh

I've done 3k miles in mine and have averaged 16mpg, best was 24 on a 100 mile trip, predominantly around the m25. Worst was 11mpg, which was the day after picking it up taking my old man for a hoon - was quite proud of that.

I went for the 18 inch wheel as I actually prefer the look, quite like the sleeper effect it gives the car and much prefer the ride compared to the 19s - although the 19s are great looking wheels!

I still love mine as much as the day I picked it up, my only complaint is that the exhaust, whilst fantastic to listen to outside, can sometimes feel a little muted when in the car with the windows closed (forgive me, it is winter). A trip to EMP to strip the 2nd cats (once warranty expires) is on the cards.

Enjoy!!! thumbup
Yes i have to say yours looks fantastic, but then i would wouldn't i.

Trowelhead- Very nice,looks like fun.

Have any of you opted for the Merc service plan which is £40 a month i believe, good value?

I have just had a read through the exclusions section of the service care plan and nothing like that is listed,so i would say it is included, but always best to ask them no doubt.

Hope you are enjoying your cars,as you say these engines have started disappearing now,i would like to hold onto mine for a good few years but doubt that will happen, though what do you buy after one of these to replace all the fun and drama with four seats and decent space?.

Very nice sedate looking C63 ops, bet you don't mind getting up in the morning to hear that noise!
Yes,everyone knows when you're going out that's for sure haha, some lovely cars on this thread.I have been out and about today used nearly half a tank but i certainly had my money's worth from it.
