Well, I popped up a thread of all my cars but have some great pics of the CLS and think it deserves a thread I can update. I bought this in the summer of 2015 from a friends father in law.

It is a 2007 CLS63, so has the 6.2ltr V8 AMG engine making just over 500bhp, 7spd auto, full service history and just under 18k on the clock. My friend is a professional detailer so the car has been spoiled prior to me owning. I was really lucky to find one in this condition.

Let's be honest, this is the main attraction to these era of AMG, that V8!! smile

I'm not sure other than the steering wheel which were ticked options in the car. It has a sunroof, full leather, Command, electric seats both sides etc.

So that's about it really. The car has been serviced the equivalent of about every 2-3k and the last service cost me around £500 for a couple of bits but otherwise it's been brilliant. I can't see myself selling this for a long time.

Only real issue I had was a flat battery in the summer which resulted in it looking very low as the air suspension hadn't been used for the 5 weeks or so. Looked a bit 'scene' for my liking.

That's about it otherwise, bring on some nice sunny days so I can take it for a blast. smile

Looks awesome. How ruinous could it get? Bet it sounds good on the move.
Thank you mate, I'm still really pleased with it even 18 months later. As for being ruinous, well it's as bad as you think of fuel, 15mpg round town and a max of 27mpg. As for repairs well I suspect they're expensive and now I'm 34 I'm in a position to run this as a weekend car, I paid top end money for this example hence the mileage and condition but it's still a car that holds its owns.

Sounds petty good sat still too https://youtu.be/oISwXwxwqyM

The suspension is a "feature", my 500 settles a bit over a week, as long as it isnt on the bump stops and it comes back up, its all good, it is a generator of anxiety when you first get one though.

Would love to try an AMG one did think it would be my next car but will prob go hot hatch, would be a bit daft to go for the same, but faster.
Yea that was a one off as once the battery was replaced it was started and hasn't dropped since. The suspension is one of the things to be aware of with one of these but so far so good. My old E320 has Airmatic and that's been fine so far,

I'm almost tempted to change my E for a CLS diesel so I wouldn't blame you for going faster, I just fancy a CLS320 without Airmatic as a daily car,

Any cracked wheels yet? I went through 2 sets of those alloys before binning them!

The airmatic replacements aren't too expensive these days. Had one strut replaced by a specialist last year for £500. My rubber airbag bust and separated from the strut
Not that I'm aware of chap. Admittedly I have heard of it happening but so far so good.

Hopefully the Airmatic is in decent health but then again I accept if things needing doing. It's a car worth caring for. smile

I will have to keep my eyes peeled for pot holes that's for sure. I think these wheels really suit the car without being stupidly large.

Had a bit of a nerdy moment whilst having a rummage on eBay.

Managed to find an original CLS brochure which covers the CLS63 as well as the 320 and 500. Is a hardback and totally mint. Not the most exciting thing but I love collecting bits and pieces like this to keep along in the cars history folder.

I cant afford one (yet/soon/ever) but been looking at the 218 CLS 63, I know they arent as nice looking but still look pretty good and they are dropping in price, just under thirty grand.
To be honest the later CLS models aren't exactly hideous cars in my opinion. I'm just not sure they quite had that look that the first model had, something about the W219 makes it look right and yet a bit different as well.

Lovely car, fantastic mileage, must feel like new.

I had a CLS55 and it was a superb car, effortless pace and loads of comfort/refinement.
I was so lucky to get my hands on it. Admittedly I paid top end money for that mileage and condition but it seems like a bargain when you consider the brand new price and as you say, is like new inside and out.

I've not been in a 55 but I'd imagine the additional torque could be useful day to day. Not that the 63 is lacking but it's a high revving V8 to get the power where as the supercharged 5.5 must be very useable, perhaps more so day to day.

I'm still very tempted to chop my E320 in for a CLS320 CDI for family duties. Even in non-AMG guise they still stand out.

Thought I'd update this thread despite having not done much with the car at all this year. As always, had every intention of getting it MOT'd and on the road for summer. Two children under 5 and a busy work schedule put that on the backburner.

Despite that, I uncovered the beasty today and gave it a quick once over, took some pictures since the sun was shining.

The air suspension drops somewhat when it's been sat still for a while. I'm sure the 'stance' types out there would like the look.

Fortunately the car rights itself once it's been running a minute or so. Engine bay is still nice and clean.

Obviously I had to give it a once over with the wash mitts and drying towels.

Still not ticked over 18k yet, not bad for a 2007.

Genuinely nice paddles to use, certainly compared to the clicking button type my other half had in her SL350!

Optional sunroof which I rather like.

Bit of a boring update but I'm still chuffed to bits with finding such a great example. Still puts a smile on my face.

I can see the point but I'm not getting rid any time soon so the mileage isn't as relevant. I do 1k a month in a diesel barge so this is just my pride and joy. I'd probably cringe using its a a family wagon but that's just me. smile

After having looked at garages to rent and what options I had, I have ended putting the CLS into a storage facility for the time being. I am not getting to use it often but have no intention to sell.

Few pics after a clean up inside and out prior to being serviced and transported to it's new home.

The car was then collected, just about fitted!

I followed the car there and gave it a quick once over before it was parked in it's new location. Tyres were all pumped up high, put on charge in a carpeted, heat lock up.

Brand new cover on it. It's actually a Stormforce cover which is designed for outdoors but it was brand new and will suffice for a dust cover!

It looks like a lovely example. I was considering one for a potential future family car but I'm leaning towards a 2014 Audi S6 just due to it being slightly more modern.
Certainly the interior looks a bit old school in the W219 CLS although certainly this one is very well spec'd so has everything you'd need and a bit more in terms of toys. I think the car still looks great on the outside but then I'm biased.

Gameface said:
Did you buy it for the investment potential due to the low miles?
Not entirely. Through my 20s I'd always owned hot hatches, mainly RenaultSport models in some shape or other. Got into my early 30s and fancied something bigger, comfier and more powerful.

My initial thinking was the V10 M5 or M6 as needed decent back seats for my daughter to fit in. I did my homework on them and there were a few things that put me off owning one. I hadn't even looked at the CLS as an option as didn't imagine it to be in the same price bracket.

I then found out that a friend of mine's father in law was selling his CLS63 and it was a little over my original budget due to the condition and mileage. My friend is a professional detailer as well so the car had been extremely well cared for as well as being silly low mileage so I snapped it up.

I've never considered a car an investment just something I wanted! smile

It's a lovely example but its a shame it's not being used. Not even sparingly.
I will get round to using it but at this rate not until next year realistically. What with kids and work taking up all my time.

only thing i'd do is remove the horrible number plate surrounds...apart from that...beautiful...drive it!
Personally I quite like the surround although on the back, it has two posts rather than flush holes otherwise I would simply use double sided pads so need a surround rather than drilling through the plates.

Yours looks spectacular in silver! After previously having a black car, I didn't really want another because of how much work they are to keep clean but when the right car comes along colour comes secondary to condition. Are you concerned about anything deteriorating through lack of regular use while it is tucked up in storage?

The plastic clips either side of the OEM surrounds that came on my car were worn/broken (the previous owner had a private plate on the car but I suspect they had also aged and become more brittle in the sun) so I swapped out the pair of surrounds for THESE.

The fit at the rear is perfect but where the front plinth is curved slightly around the front bumper the plate won't secure on all the clips as there is too much tension in the plate - I'll look at putting some plastic washers between the plinth and plate holder just to try and even it out - but it has held firm on a couple of longer motorway runs as well as a daily duties for two weeks so far.
Thanks mate, I think it lends itself well to silver. They do look great in other colours but the lightness of the silver shows off the lines of the car and some of the angles that get a little lost in black.

I'm not too worried about deterioration, the car hasn't moved a lot in it's life as you can imagine and it's not impacted it negatively. MOTs are usually clear. I will make an effort to head over and start it up, raise the suspension etc. when I can.

Thanks for the link to the surrounds smile

Are you going to start it occasionally, I would avoid the suspension deflating and being sat for months, I can’t imagine that would be good for it, mine looked like a low rider after two weeks sat unused, may be worth putting it on axle stands ?
Mine isn't quite two weeks but certainly drops very low after 5-6 weeks or more. The car has sat unmoved for over a year outside so has sat low for a while. Not experienced anything detrimental so far but I'll aim to fire it up. Looks quite cool low haha.

Nice car OP there's something bewitching about the 6.2, my CLK63 is a keeper too.
Yeah it's quite a special thing. I meant don't get me wrong the 5.5 supercharged engine in the previous AMG models is awesome and of course the new V8 turbos are more powerful and efficient. There is something quite cool about the sheer capacity of that 6.2 V8. It sounds fantastic, has great power and is just an engine we'll likely not see again.

The 4.0TT is a good engine but there's no replacement for displacement as good as the 4.0 is I feel the 5.5TT is the better engine but it's not as sweet throttle response wise.
i can imagine those newer turbos are still impressive, they seem to sound good still and obviously make more power. I mean I wouldn't turn down one of the newer E63s as a daily car. One day maybe. I'll keep hold of the CLS as well though haha
