Having had an automotive clearout, I seem to have taken up ownership of this old smoker. after it popped up locally on my FB feed.
2004 X-Type 2.5 V6 Spirit AWD Manual. 49K miles. Lovely black leather interior, apparently it`s some sort of special limited edition.
Has various issues resulting from 6 years of neglect.
Badly needs a service, engine light on with a lambda sensor fault code, the air con blows warm, the PAS pump complains loudly on full lock, only has 1 key, the brake fluid resembles Guinness, the discs and pads look to be past their best and all the tyres are Donald Ducked.
Drives nicely though and risked a 150 mile trip at the weekend when, surprisingly, it delivered 37mpg.

Started the resurrection.
First up an oil and filter change. The old oil didn't look too bad but the filter was going rusty, not surprising as according to the book the last service was done in 2011. Had a good old poke around underneath whilst I was there. All looked reasonable with no rust anywhere nor any leaks from the gear or transfer boxes.
Pollen filter was totally blocked and chock full of leaves and other s
te. Air filter surprisingly not too bad but renewed it anyway.
Next onto the plugs, a bit of a mission to get to the rear bank as the intake manifold has to come off. Took a while but all good. Surprised the engine ran on the old plugs the gaps were so wide. I suspect they were the originals.
A pair of new blades and £3 on 2 used washer jets to replace the blocked solid originals.
Next up is the fuel filter which is up underneath near the fuel tank and get the wheels off to look at the brakes.
