Hi PH'rs

This thread Porsche Boxster 986 - engine swap project

Came to an abrupt halt on Saturday 5th August 2017

The car went from this

To this

PH'r 8ball_Rob set up a gofundme page

https://www.gofundme.com/help-a-fellow-pher-in-nee...

I've created this thread so it can be a "sticky" for a little while at the top of Readers Cars - be nice if PH'rs can at least help a little to get Escy in another "Boxter"

Rob put it best when he said on the gofundme page

I should add that although the fund is mainly aimed at encouraging fellow PHers to donate, members of the general public are of course welcome to contribute as well. I fully appreciate that non-PHers may well feel that there are more deserving causes than a fund which essentially amounts to "help buy a Porsche for some bloke that I've never met"...! To them, I would say that this isn't really about a car - it's about a man, his family, and a community.

Presumably his insurance will pay out?
Would have been nice if that was the case - If you read the thread it will cover that point - it was covered third party only - it was always his intention to put it on full cover once it was finsihed

Guys, I don't think this is the place to debate whether or not there should be a fund me page, if you don't want to contribute then don't as no one is forcing you. Please feel free to give to any other cause you deem suitable.

For me the build was hugely interesting and kept me very entertained as it progressed. I give money to several charities of my choosing and I gave money to this as I kind of know what it feels like to go through something like this. Whether or not the financial loss could have been avoided is not relevant as it wasn't. We are where we are as they say.
Hindsight is great isn't it biggrin

For me hindsight is demonstrated by putting the other half down as registered keeper and signing over the policy (previously named driver on it) and all the no claims to her because that was the rules for her getting mileage payment from work wasn't a problem - till she decided to sleep with a colleague

Still wouldn't be a problem - she'd sign the car and the policy back over to me............ Yeah that happened.

We can all be very wise after the event
