Been a massive WRC fan for a long time, in particular the era dominated by Lancia with their six consecutive manufacturer titles. Over the last few months I've been lucky enough to grab two ex-Works cars. Kid in a sweetshop time for me!!

The first, Abarth SE045 ex-Juha Kankkunen 1990 16v subsequently converted to Deltona by CECOMP in 1992 and then raced by HF Grifone and others. Last raced in 2000 in the RAC rally, has raced in nearly 60 rallies that I'm aware of and has won six times including being run by Steve Smith of Walkers. The car is famous for the 1990 1000 Lakes where KKK snapped his throttle cable. There is the iconic shot of him sitting on the bonnet whilst his co-driver Piironen drove the car.

The car finished 5th in that rally, 4th in the San Remo with Dario Cerrato & Jolly Club, and then finally 10th with Robert Droogmans in the RAC of the same year. The car also won the Rally Valeo in 1990 with Cerrato. The car continued to race in Italy post conversion to Deltona winning 3 in close succession with Ludivico Fassitelli winning the championship and final race of the season at Bassano. Fassitelli went on to found Stilo Helmets.

The car was extensively driven in the famous black & gold of HF Grifone with drivers like Fabrizio Tabaton, Gilberto Pianezzola and Piero Longhi. Was exported to England at the end of 1994 by Walkers and continued to compete until 2005. The car is currently having some work done to him including being put back to Marlboro colours initially, the first livery the car ran after conversion to Deltona. Eventually the car will return to it's black & gold HF Grifone colours.

My second Delta, Abarth SE050, ex-Didier Auriol 1992 Deltona (Evolution) was raced three times in the WRC in 1992, winning twice, at the 1000 Lakes Rally & Australia. Finished 10th at Catalunya a result that effectively ending Auriol's chance of winning his first WRC. The car won 2 of the six races Auriol won in 92, a world record at the time that stood for another 13 years until Loeb beat it. The car was then run by Jolly Club in 1993 and driven mainly by Dario Cerrato continuing in Martini colours. After that it raced in Hungary for a time winning multiple races before being acquired by a private collector who continued to race it non-competitively until 1998. More recently the car has been at Shelsey Walsh hillclimb and on display at the FoS.

Cheers for the comments guys!

I've got some more pictures, easier to post them up via google than using the system on here:

Thanks again all. I can't wait to get out and use them first will just be some shake down runs on the track.

To clarify TO 13721T was at Shelsey Walsh with the previous owner, I've only had him a couple of months. Am currently going through the car and making it fit me for a start before using it. Will try and get to various events over the next 12 months.

TO 23905P on the other hand needs a bit of work, I've been sourcing parts for the car over the last few months since I bought it. It's not safe at the moment. Things like the Titanium suspension arms, brake calipers etc. The entire exhaust system is Ti for example. The car has had a lot of use and has not been used in anger for about a decade so needs a proper going over.

I'm gagging to drive them both but have to get them sorted before that can happen. I'm a tubby 6ft 3, so I struggle to even get my arse in an Auriol seat so can't really even physically drive 137 yet (!). 905 has a slightly larger seat in it from Dario Cerrato.

Got a stack of parts coming over from Italy this week, so can crack on in earnest.

I've driven 137 for a short distance, and I can say the power, boost and the noise especially from the dog box is something else.

It's located on the co-driver side, between the roll cage and the inner wing. It's about 3-4mm in size.

Hi, no I don't think so. It raced twice in the RAC in 1990 and 2000.

In the UK it was in white Walkers livery and then Martini as you can see in the some the photos in the link I posted.

Not its most important event by any means, but here's the Juha Kankunen car at the 1997 Mintex Rallysprint at Silverstone; I have often wondered whether Steve Smith still had it, or indeed if it was still in the UK
Wow! Many thanks for the photos, I didn't have any of this event. Brilliant.

Had a great day on the weekend at Goodwood for the annual Lancia club trackday. Lined up some Evo II's to celebrate the 25th anniversary. Even got a couple of tame laps around the Circuit.

The car is so loud it would never normally get around there without being black flagged. Hope to get it up to Silverstone shortly where it should have a bit more lattitude than the more local tracks near me!!
