My Duster is on long term loan to a family member because I bought this the other month:

A 2002 Boxster S with 135,000 miles on the clock yikes. It’s had plenty of maintenance over the years though, including IMS, RMS, clutch/flywheel all within the past couple of years.

Drives well although it has a bit of a clunk from the front end when it’s warm. That’s for future TP to worry about.

I’ve done about 1000 trouble free miles so far - that noise cloud9. Love it.

First job has been a really good clean, removal of the aftermarket side repeaters and those stickers!

Looks far tidier now.

Coming soon: a really very cheap Panda 100HP and a 300 mile drive home....

I’m trying so hard to ignore the potential for big bills biggrin

Some of the service history makes for uncomfortable reading.

What sort of prices do these fetch now?
Bottom of the market for a running S with MoT seems to be around £4500. I paid £6000 for this one purely on the strength of condition and how much work it’s had recently (I figured it’s done it’s bork moment at least for half an hour or so)

Maybe slightly salty for the mileage, doesn’t keep me awake at night though smile.

Early flight to Glasgow this morning to collect this lovely* example of a Panda 100HP

Seems ok in the 5 or so miles I’ve driven it today. 330 more tomorrow biggrin

Made it across the border so far with only one minor hiccup - positive battery cable was loose!

Home biggrin - it drives pretty well. I reckon the rear bump stops have made a run for it just like the SOTW car though!

So... the Panda 100HP

It’s not a bad little thing to drive - nowhere near as uncomfortable as I expected it to be on a long journey. Little bit out of its depth on the motorway but it does sit at 80 all day long without too much hassle. I’d imagine a 1.1 is utter pain in such a situation.

Quite fun to chuck around bends / roundabouts but I’m not sure I believe the hype. People rave about them like they’re a wonderful thing but I’m not sure they’ve driven one. It’s OK.

Rear suspension... would be nice. I wonder if the bump stops have gone missing like the SOTW car because it bangs about like nothing on earth over bumps. It’s a common complaint about these it seems.

Starter motor seems to drag on a bit sometimes, like the ignition switch is a bit lazy when you let go of the key. Not sure what that’s all about.

All in all it’ll be a cracking little runabout - it’s cheap to insure and doesn’t seem bad on fuel. Could do with a good tidy up - refurb the alloys, find some centre caps that fit. Machine polish the poor suffering paintwork. Valet.

Not sure I will do all of that mind biggrin. Apart from the rear suspension it does seem pretty mechanically solid now so it might be worth it though.

Got a £20 Groupon deal for air con regas at a local garage so I’m hopefully going to whip the Panda in for that this weekend - fingers crossed although I’m guessing it’s a bit more fked than “just needs a regas m8”

I was the same as you. I love the 100HP, but when I drove one it struggled to live up to the hype a bit. I guess that's the downside of hype. In fact, is there an upside?!

I had a go in S100HP's (or whatever he's called this week) but though it was fun, I could have much more fun in a Saxo VTS for example.
I mean it’s okay - it’s good fun to chuck around and you’ll never get into too much trouble. Plus it’s very cheap to run and makes a decent “shed” but that’s about it for me I think.

I’d quite like to fit bumpers from an Active, steel wheels with trims etc

Which of my cars is currently off the road awaiting repair - the “ruinously expensive” “bork factor” Porsche or the little Panda?

Yeah. Obviously it’s the Panda. Noticed the noise over bumps getting worse so stuck my head under and it has shed one of the bolts that secures the NSR brake calliper to the hub yikes - not sure if it was left out or left loose after recent brake work.

Panda is going to a new home soon. Cracked windscreen and (unrelated) ruined front bumper due to hitting a deer has made me completely lose interest in it.

Bought this beast as a replacement - 1997 Primera GT.

Has absolutely brilliant “90s taxi driver” interior

Drives absolutely flawlessly apart from a slightly grumbly wheel bearing. Just under 115k on the clock with April MOT. £295.

Porsche is seeing a little less use at the moment because it keeps throwing the EML on for the pre cat lambda sensor and I’m too busy to get it sorted.

Can’t remember when I last worked on a P11 GT let alone seen one on the road , have a wee look at the rear abs exciter rings as they were always corroding and splitting when the cars were new , leading to the abs pump triggering even just going over bumps
It’s a bit ABS happy when braking at low speeds on rough roads so I think you’re onto something there

Fitted some top quality* performance* rubber today. Replaced the slicks* on the back and corrected the fact that the tyres were the wrong profile and rubbed on the front arch liners biggrin
