Just put a deposit down on this - 2006 with 36,000.

https://boards.wetransfer.com/board/sw9mjzs0r0fsb5...

Hope the pictures come out OK ? Ignore the black series badge - that's coming off.

I downloaded the guide from slkworld and went through the checks recommended. No damp wheel well, roof seals perfect, new front tyres, No rocker cover leaks I could see.
Best bit is brand new front disks and pads.
Always serviced at MB. It used to live in Edgware so I suspect with the ULEZ it wasn't economic to keep it.

Am I right in thinking that around 40K it's due a transmission flush ?

Plans are to fix the upper LCD panel (£89 quid on ebay) as it's got the pink shrimp syndrome and to fit a Dynavin N7 to replace the current command which is well...13 years old hehe

I'm picking it up on 1st June, which is my birthday. Here's hoping for weather like today !

No fraid not, it would have been the steal of the century !

The guy who owned it before got a load of CF bits from germany (and the badge). It will have to go as I don't like mis-badged cars

There never was a Black Series SLK but you can buy the little badges on Ebay.
To be honest & with two fingers up to those who get all huffy about such things I'd keep the badge after all the car IS black & it is very 'special' looking.
Just don't become an AMG snob as many owners are, as you will discover on the UK SLK Forum & at shows. Worse DO NOT buy a black AMG logo anorak or peaked cap.
I've got a GLC 'AMG Line' - perhaps I should put the badge on that ? hehe

Thanks for all the comments - I'm like a kid waiting for xmas day.

How do you stop yourself adding stuff to the car ?...I'm developing an unhealthy interest in the CKS website... Must resist, haven't even got the car yet ! hehe

Man maths (kinda) came into the decision. I have a Golf R on one of those cheapy deals (260 quid a month) and it's coming to the end of the term so I had to find a replacement.
Searching for deals I found nothing comparable for the same amount of money and well, although it was nice to have a brand new car every 2 years I was conscious of the fact it was money just...disappearing.

So for a similar price over 2 years (plus some cash from me) I got a loan for 8.5K with M&S bank - 293 a month. This meant I'm paying similar monthlies but towards an asset I eventually own. But it had to be special and this popped up on Autotrader about 3 weeks ago as a private sale.
I prevaricated and it got snapped up by a dealer who I eventually bought it from at a higher price...lesson to me, don't prevaricate !

I've since found out this car has had the Williams F1 Ceramic coating applied ! Which probably explains why it's so shiny.

When I drove it, yes the tech is crap inside but the sense of occasion/theatre was something the Golf (as good as it is) could never match. That engine !! cloud9

Thanks for all the comments, I'm over the moon !

I paid something beginning with 17 for the car. I've had a chance to properly go through the history now and this car has a wad of paperwork, inc old tax disks !
It had a trans fluid change in Jun 15 @ 23K so that was a nice surprise.
The last service was Jan 18, a B + Disks and pads. Done at the main dealer (!) the guy got charge 2,100 for that job !

The car has a Williams Ceramic coat registration card in the cubby hole. Does anyone know how I find out if it's got any years left on the guarantee ?

Cheers

Edited to add : Those guys at Forza were an absolute pleasure to deal with, in terms of attention to detail and personal service they knocked MB into a cocked hat.... They even booked the car in at Star Tech in Poole for a health check (paid for by them) so that I knew exactly what might need doing when I picked the car up.

This stuff is not urgent according to them and will need doing sometime next year. I will get it all done when the C service comes around.

Front torque arm bushes will eventually need replacing.
Small leak from the sump gasket.
Engine and gearbox mounts a little weak
Propshaft donut will need replacing at some point.

So while it's on the ramp, may as well get it all done !

The previous owner wants his plate back, so I've just sent off the V5 and removal of plate form to DVLA. His retention cert should turn up in about 10 days or so...I could have just kept the age related plate that would be assigned...but then I found this online, for 280 quid.

Just a bit of fun (and inspired by Harry's Zonda from way back in the early Evo days !) smile

There is one thing I would get done & that's get the wheels refurbished back to the Diamond Cut finish.
I like them, they've been painted obsidian black to match the paintwork plus there's the sump/torque arm bushes/donut to consider first.

Nice beast!
I just picked up a 2008 one a friend was going to be trading in a couple months back. Not as sharp at the Elise is, but an absolutely lovely machine.
X pipe/ resonator delete is definitely worthwhile and at idle still isn't too obnoxious.
Will be blatting down to the nurburgring 24 hours in mine, then onwards to Switzerland and Italy afterwards. Fuel bill is going to be awful hehe
Nice one - you have the cheaper brakes, I'm jealous ! biggrin

Yes, that will be quite a lot of litres of super you're going to get through there hehe

I didn't have to be in work until 1, so a trip to Cheddar this morning was the plan. I've driven that road loads of times but never in a convertible so it was amazing to be able to look up and see the massive cliffs looming over you. The goats, as usual, were in the middle of the road and wouldn't move. Stubborn buggers hehe

Not far, Just by Chew Lake smile

My route is via West Harptree, up Harptree hill then right and via Yoxter.

I like Charterhouse too, but it's usually full of traffic.

Congrats on such a fine purchase, OP, the car looks mega!
I'm sure you're enjoying every moment in it just now, a great big perma-grin on every journey.

To the poster above - the gearbox isn't the car's longest suit, but you soon learn how to make the best of it. The performance capability is such that for road use, there's no real issue (in my eyes) because it'll go like a stabbed rat in any gear. However, being honest, if you're really hardcore or want to track your car, it's probably not for you.

Horses for courses, as always.

The engine and the noise the SLK makes is epic and very addictive! The X-pipe and resonator box/secondary cat removal should be mandatory.
Second this, a downsift on the paddle is akin to ringing down to the engine room for 'ahead flank' hehe , it's about a second between pulling the paddle and anything happening. It seems there's a software upgrade which helps in this regard.

But then, left alone it kicks down makes a wonderful 'gargling with listerine' epic noise and you forgive it being a bit slow. Once it's past 4K it turns hard edged and just lovely.

Honestly (and coming from a Golf R) it's in a different league performance wise, it's got some much torque that you just end up wafting around using not much more than 2.5K revs in normal traffic, and with the roof down even that sounds lovely ! Its got character...

I'd love to get the X-Pipe sorted now but I've had a very busy month paying off my step daughter's debts and an late panic buy of a Honda Jazz as my Step Daughter's Ka died on weds and we're off on holiday tomorrow, so any work on this will have to wait till next month frown
