Hi all

Whilst the RS6 has been a fantastic bit of kit, it's almost overkill for what I use it for (at 675 hp it's slightly mental as well!)

I started to look for a replacement, and very quickly settled on a Sepang blue 2015 RS3 with the black pack, and do what I always end up doing, purchase the first one I go to look at...

This one has had quite a bit of work done on it -

MRC Stage 2 software upgrade, MRC Stage 2 S-Tronic map, Autotech High Pressure Fuel Pump, HG Motorsport Turbo Inlet, K&N Panel Filter, Milltek Decat Downpipe, Milltek Secondary Decats and Forge Front Mounted Intercooler.

After emailing MRC who completed the work on it, it's pushing out 455hp apparently, which should be fun!!

The test drive was fantastic, the 5 cylinder sound enhanced by the exhaust work, I almost prefer it to the V8 in the RS6 sound wise, and the gearbox even faster to change. They've kept the original Audi sport exhaust fitted with the valves, so In comfort mode, I was impressed that it became quiet, best of both worlds! The MPG didnt seem too bad when taking it easy, which will be useful if needed.

It really does pull well, and feels so much more nimble which is great, god knows what the 0-60 time will be with the new hp. The collection is on Thursday which I'm very excited about.

Here are some pics-

Thought your rs6 was lovely, must admit I'm tempted to get one in a couple years as a family chariot before they're extinct!

Rs3 looks lovely but those wheels are overused and underwhelming across the audi stables. A nice set of aftermarkets might be a good addition.
I will miss it, the best all round car I've ever owned, Would highly recommend one!

I would agree with the alloy wheels, been having a look on Google for some inspiration smile

That's true! The ones on the RS6 are a nightmare to keep clean, and brake dust central!

Been running the car since Thursday, unfortunately, I've been unable to use all 455hp...

When picking it up, the car was pretty much running on fumes, so had to go to the first petrol station I came across (Esso with 97 octane)

I had been at the dealership for a while, and wasn't thinking, and just purchased a full tank..when trying full throttle later on in the journey, it hesitated, and didn't feel right, so didn't do that again.. Next day I contacted the company who remapped it, and completed the engine work, they advised to not use full throttle until the 97 has gone, and refilled with 99 octane, but will be fine to drive normally. I should have realised really, but wasn't thinking at the time, and certainly know for the fiture. On the up side, I've discovered if driven carefully, it will do at least 30mpg, which is nice.
It does sound fantastic at low revs as well, so can still enjoy the 5 cylinder! It's a lovely place to sit, with the optional wing back seats, I'm impressed with the fit and finish as well, coming from the RS6.

Here are some pictures of it at home..

I did wonder that my self, I've been told by a few people now that the car could suffer engine damage if it had prolonged use of 97 octane

That’s stunning, I’ve always hankered after a Sepang RS! Just doing some research and ended up here!
I’m swaying more towards the saloon (our of the two Audi’s) at present.
Many thanks smile it does seem to get lots of positive comments on the colour which is nice.

The saloon is a great looking car, and with the facelift, 400hp standard.

Lovely car and in one of the best colours! I'm picking up a Catalunya Red 65 plate RS3 on Thursday - reading this is making me even more excited. Glad to see you are enjoying it so far.
You'll love it! Such a great sounding car. They look great in that Red as well, Will look forward to seeing some photos!

If needs must then add some Miller's ecomax which would take 97 RON to the magic 99. Don't think that first tank will be hanging around too long to be fair!
I may well keep some in the car just incase!
Tis quite annoying taking it easy, it seems to be quite efficient when driven carefully, it's only just dipped to half a tank...

I love these and for the pure fact of them forgetting to ‘turn down’ the exhaust I would have to have a 2015 model.

What a weapon!!! Will keep my eyes on this thread, still a bit too pricey for me but hopefully one day.

Si
Certainly is a brilliant sounding engine! Great that it can be noisy in dynamic, then easy to live with in comfort mode.. This with a decat downpipe and secondary decat pipe sounds ridiculous (no idea what I'll do come MOT time....)

That’s lovely...I said the same thing about the RS6 too

That colour with the black pack looks fab. The only thing that I’m not too keen on are the wheels.

These make a fan noise; a lad in my village has one and it sounds ace as he leaves the village onto NSL county lanes.
Many thanks smile It is quite an addictive sound, there is a stupid amount of pops and bangs from the exhaust, I'm a bit of a child, so enjoy it on my favourite roads! (Not in towns) quite hard to not make it do it.

I do agree with the wheels, may change them at some point, not sure what I would go for though, I recon Dark bronze may look quite good as a colour though.

The lad in my village seems to enjoy the pops and bangs all of the time. The child in me does giggle if I’m honest.

I think a dark silver / anthracite would look lovely against that colour. Boring I guess, but nice.
They are quite fun! I've yet to hear them properly too.
It did make someone jump today outside dunelm when it started up which I didn't mean to do, starts with quite a large rev!

That would look good with the blue smile

Finally managed to put a tank of 99 in now. How long does it usually take the ECU to re learn the higher octane fuel?

Hmm, even with higher octane fuel in, and some octane booster, it still does to be hesitating under boost frown Looks like I'm back to the tuners, hope it's not do e any damage!

Thanks guys smile Hope it's not too serious, engine sounds fine otherwise. I Just wish I had asked the salesman about the fueling, then I could have headed to shell if there was one near by, as it's my first properly remapped car (also would have been nice to have more than 0 miles in the tank! on the handover!) Even a fivers worth..

I contacted the tuners today, who said to let this tank of 99 run through, then fill it up again to make sure, fingers crossed after that.

I saw my first other RS3 on the roads today, got a cheery wave from the driver which was nice smile

Got back from the tuning company today, in the end it needed the coilpacks and the spark plus replacing, so not as serious as it could have been.. all is well now! And drives famtastically

Finally got to try full throttle on the way home, seems bloody quick! Has the same shove in the back feeling as RS6 had, and the 5 cylinder at higher revs sounds very addictive!

Was very pleased it wasn't too serious!

Really does feel rapid, quite a bit lighter than the RS6 as well. At some point I may venture back to MRC too see what stage 3 involves.. It still feels very solid, even in this terrible weather which is great.

Dodgy coils/sparks can have an equally damaging effect on a motor tuned or not. Glad you got it sorted!

The amount of people with a turbo motor living with a misfire is crazyness.
I must admit, I'm glad it didn't do anymore damage, as soon as I felt the misfire it didn't feel right, but thought it was 97 octane causing it.

The chap at MRC said the bad fuel may have accelerated the spark plus and coils to fail.
