Safe to say I'm rather excited - it will be a long few weeks whilst its prepped before it's with me. More details to follow...

Thanks guys, it is a stunner, immaculate condition too. It had a Str8Six rebuild in 2017 (5000 miles ago) and a respray a few years ago - the paint is immaculate other than a tiny mark on the rear quarter and a mark on the a pillar where the window failed to close before the door was shut, which Str8Six are going to tidy up. They are also going to refurb the wheels, in any colour I want - thinking a dark gold or bronze given the undertones in the paint - and I'm hoping to have the rocker cover powdercoated and some worn bolsters on the drivers seat sorted. Not the cheapest Tuscan out there but given condition (and colour - e.g. shmoo had a tuscan a few grand cheaper buts its silver on black which I couldn't live with! Squirrel yours is also a lovely colourbiggrin) hopefully it's a good one.

Thanks :-D

I have thought about a shadow chrome / anthracite grey. I think the silver is too bright so want something a bit darker but not too dark you lose the detail (don't like black wheels!).

Yes the chassis was my other big concern, as other than the engine it is the thing that can give rise to a big bill! It looks very good, AFAIK never welded (I think that tuscans didn't rot quite as bad as chims / griffs?). Jason at str8six says its one of the best condition originals chassis he has seen (he would say that though biglaugh ) few pics...

Pleasant surprise of today is an insurance quote of only £360 with agreed value biggrin was expecting it to be much higher with me being in my twenties and living in South East london. Remarkably other insurers can't seem to get anywhere close to footman james quote, had a few £1000+ quotes...

Excellent, looks lovely. May I ask who you bought yours from?

The only spec problem with this car is a lack of AC which might put some off. I'll just take the roof off if its warm biggrin

I started looking at cheaper Chims but they didn't appeal so much. I was then looking at Corvette C5s but didn't find a decent one. Then this came up, a bit of man maths...

I have another thread on my Peugeot 205 which is my attempt to teach myself some spannering. I'm pretty amateur but would try a few things on the Tuscan - changing pads and discs for example. I think its right that the speed six is more complex than the rover v8 but let's be honest I wouldnt be rebuilding either myself so not sure it matters so much. You will be aware the speed six is not the most reliable powerplant (it is the most powerful production 6 cylinder ever I believe!) So I'd only buy one that had been rebuilt by str8 six or powers performance (mine has a bill for full rebuild for 8.4k - cheaper rebuilds might be top end ony). Quite a few were apparently rebuilt by the factory but not to a great standard. Other than the complex engine I'm not sure the tuscan is hugely more expensive to run than the Chimaera? Str8six reckoned about 1500 a year - 390 small service/ 890 big service alternate years/6000 miles - obviously provided engine doesn't pop or chassis needs a body off refurb.

75, 205 and this - nice fleet!
Thanks! biggrin

My better half does wonder why we need three cars when she doesn't drive and we only do around three or four thousand miles a year ... I tell her they all serve different purposes!

I do want to upgrade the 75 to an X308 XJ8 (haven't yet scratched my V8 itch!) or even a v12 Toyota Century but ill be in a lot of trouble if that happens before a kitchen and an engagement ring is bought...

There is also something quite useful about having a car you're not too precious about to run to the shops etc. A Toyota Century might not be the easiest car to parallel park outside the Post Office..

Thanks!

Any tips on how not to stick it backwards into a lampost in the first week are gratefully received biglaugh My most powerful cars to date have been a 197hp FN2 Type R and a 190hp 2.5 v6 Alfa 156, and my only RWD car a 140hp Fiat 124 Spider which couldnt break traction if you tried. Safe to say im a little apprehensive!

This is the colour I have suggested for the wheels. I think it will look good, fairly understated, tie in with the colours of the paint. But we will see. . .

Waiting anxiously to get an eta as to when it will be with me! A bit glad I don't have it now, the temptation to drive it in the snow would be too tempting!

So, a car got its cat nicked right in front of my house this evening. Has made me slightly nervous about having such a flash car on my drive tbh. Would quite like to get it out of sight somehow...blasted planning not allowing me doors on my carport. Hopefully blocking it in my drive with my other car and the security camera will put them off...

I wouldn't worry too much TBH, nobody in their right mind is going to nick a TVR, bugger all market to shift it to nor any major market for parts. Just about the only theft I've ever heard of is a set of one of the rarer wheels from a Griff which were off the car anyway.
So after the theft of the cat earlier this week, went out to my shed today to find someone had tried (unsuccessfully, luckily) to break into my shed! Screws removed, splintered wood from efforts to pry the door. Defeated by a security bolt, luckily the would-be robbers were incompetent as if they'd pried the staple they'd have had no problem. Plus they did it with a screwdriver (found a broken blade) rather than a crowbar ...

Plus, I have security cameras, they covered their faces, but popped up the stills on the local facebook page and had one of the two reprobates names within the hour. Hopefully the police do something about it.

Been in the house a year, and in the two weeks after I put a deposit down on the Tuscan I experience my first two crimes! Makes me slightly nervous but can't let it change how you live your life ...

In good news, the car will be on my drive on Friday!

It was awesome biggrin

Got a lift across to Str8Six, couple of hours going over car. Poked around underneath, very clean. Quick test drive, transferred the cash and off I went. On the way home there was a crash on the M25 so we were detoured through Central London. Big mistake - two hours of crawling through traffic. Going through Kensington I felt like an Arab Prince. It got LOADS of attention everywhere. Stopped for fuel and got an old couple talking to me. Folk taking photos at lights. People rolling down their windows to say cool car. Passers by giving me thumbs up on the street. Let out at every junction. Nothing negative at all - everyone loved it.

I've never had so much fun in a traffic jam.

On driving it, I didn't really stretch its legs, but it is REMARKABLE how easy it is to drive slowly. Entirely compliant, light clutch, impossible to stall. Sure its loud and it rattles and it squeaks a bit (mainly the roof, will investigate) but not so loud you couldn't hold a conversation. The couple of times I put my foot down (in third only) it certainly felt quick.

Only issue is that the electric mirror controls don't seem to work and the drivers door mechanism is temperamental. Every now and again neither the indoor or outdoor button will open the car. Will need to speak to Str8Six.

Also quite pleased with the alloy colours. Less gold than I expected and I think better for it.

The sound though ...

I remember a colleague had a problem with his TVR years ago. I think the throttle cable broke. Nonetheless, the engine had enough torque to shuttle it around on Rickover alone.

Anyway, nice car mister!
Honestly don't think I could have stalled it if I tried. Could drive everywhere in third no problem!

Thanksbiggrin

Great to hear your views on picking it up, they are special things and still get the attention they deserve. Yours looks great.
I genuinely don't think there is a car that would get more attention. It didn't seem to get people trying not to look like you see with proper exotica. Everyone just seemed to love it! The most amazing thing is how easy it was to get out of junctions in Central London. In my Rover nobody let's me out! In this everyone did!
