MK1 Skoda Octavia VRS
Discussion
I have always fancied a MK1 Octavia but never really thought about the estate version. I saw one a little while ago and since then I fancied one. I found this one through a very popular social media site. Made the trip on Friday evening and I am now the proud owner of this MK1 Octavia estate. It has clearly been looked after by its previous owners. Not too many plans for it as I am going to keep it standard as I dont want to ruin it as it is very original apart from the 17" wheels. Let me know what you think.

Yes they are definitely a great all rounder. Plenty of room for the family and a nice big boot for 2 dogs. The trip home was around 2.5 hours and it averaged 40.6 mpg which really surprised me.
The Volvo in the background is my 850R, owned it for around 5 years now. Seems to be a bit of a theme with red estate cars 😂

Very nice, was on ovrmk1oc page by any chance? Have seen a couple of red estates come up lately. Any plans for it? Have a black mk1 hatch myself that's going to shortly become the new daily with ULEZ looming
I think it used to be owned by someone in the owners club but not 100% sure. I dont have any plans for it to be honest. I want to keep it as original as possible as you dont see many standard ones now days. integraf40 said:

No good idea, I've seen a few suspect visual mods about but can recommend a remap to liven things up a bit if it hasn't had one already. They respond pretty well to oneMax M4X WW said:
Very nice, there is a few on here now. We have a slightly less pretty silver estate and we love it. The most annoying thing has been (and still is) the door locks that play up.

I had a read through your thread a while ago, nice clean car. Was it a big job to convert the headlights to xenons? Thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I very nearly bought a yellow Mk1 hatchback from a colleague at work (Skoda Dealership) 1 owner, immaculate condition and completely standard, but decided to keep my equally nice Fabia vRS Mk 1
Lovely looking Fabia VRS, especially in red. Skoda really nailed it with the MK1 Octavia and Fabia VRS, both great cars. Was it the yellow one that came up for sale in Cinderford a couple of months ago?CeramicMX5ND2 said:

Always wondered why they didn't do a petrol version of the Mk1 Fabia vRS .....!No idea if it was the same one you noted advertised in Cinderford.. Was about 10 years ago when I looked at my colleagues one..

Obviously, you need the levelling and washers for an MOT... I've actually not re-fitted them since it's the last MOT and they are in the shed.

That looks very clean! Great colour combo too - enjoy!
In terms of tuning, it depends where in the country you are. Plenty of good tuners for VAG cars of this generation. Awesome GTI in Manchester, Stealth Racing in Southam and VRS in Northampton are all well established. I’ve used Awesome in the past for a Revo generic map - not sure they are still Revo dealers but I’ve read articles about them working with APR now. Stealth live map - they tuned my 1.8T A4 and did a great job. VRS I’ve heard quite a few positive reviews of but worth researching a bit more. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the information, very helpful. At the moment I'm more than happy with the standard 180bhp. Maybe in the future I might want a bit more power so this info will be helpful. OP do you still have this and did you sell the plate? Doesn't look like you accept PM's on here. Thanks
Hi, yes I still have the number plate if you are interested. I have actually got it for sale on here in the parts for sale section. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers Ross Max M4X WW said:
Thanks, found it on Briskoda for £580 which is a bit steep for me / compared to others on DVLA. Not saying it's not worth it but I don't plan to keep the car forever so should probably buy another plate for myself or my wife rather than a car-related one.
No worries at all. I had the plate valued at £650 by two different companies but by the time they had added their commission they were selling it for just under £1000 which I thought was a joke. If the plate doesnt sell i will probably put it on retention for now. Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
