Wasn't sure wether to post this, being an EV...

Time for a new car for my self.. And a first for me as well. The 159 I wasn't really getting on with, the other half, and the 3 year old used to get quite car sick in it, never had that in any car I've had before, it really was too hard riding. Also, for a 2.0D, the fuel economy was not good at all, certainly not worth hearing it..and it was having DPF issues, also I wanted something larger to carry all the gubbins for the 3 year old, and 9 month old...

For the sort of driving I do, I thought it may be time to try an EV, then get something else for the weekend. I've always liked the Taycan, but my wallet doesn't! And the I Pace, due to how well I've heard it drives. Tesla wise, I like the S, but not really a fan of the 3, even though its impressive.

I decided to go and have a look at an IPace... In Bolton, which is handy from Malvern. The oke I went to see was an 'S' with 20 inch wheels, instead of the 18s. In caesium blue, which looks fantastic in different light.
The main reason I went to see this one was that it has optional panoramic roof, which is stunning, and Air suspension., with the adaptive ride, it also lowers it self when it parks, which does look good! It doest have leather, but an imitation leather, looks good enough, and easy to clean, otherwise, the standard S spec is very good.

I didn't want to do finance on one of these, being an EV, so deciced to lease it, as its an aproved used, this includes a pod point wall box, and a Jaguar warranty, which I may well need!

It all checked out, so decoded to go for it!
This is my first EV, so getting used to the power delivery, acceleration wise l, its certainly quickest thing I've ever been in, the way it surges forward at any speed, also, handling wise, its very impressive, in dynamic mode, there's no body roll at all, it really doesnt feel its weight, and great steering feel too, it doesn't even sound to bad inside either, it really does feel much more powerful than the numbers suggest

As the wall box may take time to be fitted, and the garage kindly didn't include a 3 pin charger. I've been trying out the local 50kw fast chargers, so far I've been very impressed. I've plugged it in, popped to do the weekly shop, and it's nearly full, although I hadn't let it get too low, and price wise, not too bad. Ive read that in the colder weather it should get 200 miles, and warmer, about 250. this will suit me fine. There's not many things to modify with this car, but I am getting some normal numberplate made up, Im not a fan of the Eco green plates, doesn't go well with the Blue either..

I never thought I would, but this is still a car I would just take for a drive for the hell of it, I find it very enjoyable to drive, knowing I can just plug it in when I get home, also Nice to know if there's ever more snow, I can raise the suspension, and it will deal with that too.

Thank you if you've made it this far! I'll continue to document my ownership if anyone's interested. I will start to look for something reasonabley cheap and 2 seater for the summer as well, possibly a 986 boxster 2.5, or a Mk3 MR2. although this is still great fun smile

And for some photos

Very nice, love the colour! Too many of these are in dull black or white.
Thank you smile Yes, I did want something that was a bit different. This looks stunning in the sun, although it could do with a good polish, it looks like it's been cleaned with grit. Even the other half likes the colour, and the car.

I am local to JLR but I swear 99 percent of them are blue, certainly round here.

Man you change cars more often than I fill my tank!
Blue did seem a popular colour when they came out I think.

I'll have to hold on to this one, as its on PCP hehe

It does seem be a great bit if kit though.

So tempted to have one of these alongside the F-Type as a new family wagon, these cars have never failed to make me smile on test drives!
Just noted that you said you’ve leased it as a used approved? Mind if I enquire ballpark costs for that? I liked the idea of leasing but at 6k+750/month it seemed madness when a two year old car can be picked up for the price of a four year lease.
That would make a fantastic 2 car garage!

Really is enjoyable as a daily driver.

No problem at all, this was £8000 deposit, (voluntary) then £395 a month. This is an 'S' with the SEz they're offering £3000 deposit contribution, and £3800 with the HSE

I'm a first time ev driver and have a Cupra Born V3 77kw now for 2 months and its not the fastest thing on the street, but that squirt from the lights is just laughable. I should perhaps start my own thread if people are up for EV's. Mines a company purchase and for a miserable amount of BIK the government makes from me, is totally worth getting.
Its the wrong thing to say , but it makes all our ICE cars seem archaic and 'old' in the way it goes and is. Interesting to read your thoughts on the Jag as time goes on.
I really like the Cupra Born, saw one today, and it looked great, I've read very good things about how they drive too. I'd be interested in reading about it!

They really are impressive in the way they pick up speed, I did feel that for a daily driver, I don't miss my previous car one bit, the silence compared to the 2.0D

Will try and update with all my findings, its all a bit new to me, but thrilled so far.

I must say for a long time this is one of the only EVs that has interested me, it looked good but not in a wannabe futuristic way. The blue is the best colour for sure.

I never intended to get into an EV anytime soon but as above, the paltry bik and also the maintenance being someone else's problem made me get on board and our volvo EV arrives next month.
I felt the same it was this, Taycan (still out of my reach..) and I do like the Honda E. I do love the looks of this, and in particular the vent in the bonnet.

I didn't mean to get one so soon either, but for a daily driver, it's brilliant, And very cheap to druj considering the performance.

Which one have you gone for?

Timely thread, you’ve had a string of nice cars if I recall correctly and an iPace is on our list for this year. Please keep this updated, this blue and the grey look very smart.
I would say its up there with some of the best cars I've owned, it really is a great handling car, and the torque/grip coming out of corners is very impressive.

I would highly recommend one smile

Will make sure to keep the thread updated.

I'll be more pleased when I have a charger fitted at home.

Ordered an XC40 recharge, only single motor due to the ridiculous chip situation, but primarily chosen because of a good balance of spec, range and delivery not being like a year plus... It will have been a smidge under 6 months where an Id4 was 65 weeks and I couldn't even get a test drive! The company car list was shedding models by the day!

The Mrs did 20k last year in my golf, but aside from it being cheaper than diesel on a home EV tariff we also have a solar array on the house and a zappi car charger to track it which will chip in quite a bit of 'free' juice over the summer!
Nice, like the look of the XC40s. That does make sense as well, the range will certainly be better. I always wondered why Jag didn't release a single motor I Pace with improved range. That's not too bad for a new order as well. That's a long time for the ID4!

Solar will make a big difference too!

Presuming it’s the free charger JLR offer, it shouldn’t take long mine was about a week between requesting it and having it fitted
That's the one. Did the dealership have to contact Pod point to do it?

In fact just found the email.

So just send your registration number to this email, confirming that you are eligible for the free charger offer, should all get rolling then;

ipacecampaign@pod-point.com
Brilliant, thank you for that, I'll get an email off now. The dealership haven't been much use with how to claim the deal.

That didn't last long. I popped out to the shops, then had to head out again. I then got a 'traction battery fault' I set off anyway, and the car seemed completely fine. On the way back, the warning had gone, must have been a small glitch.. Hopefully it will bahave its self..

I did give it a clean and polish today, also removed and changed the green electric car number plates to a normal ones.

Is there a reset routine on the iPace?

I have a Tesla and there were a couple of minor hiccups when I first had it. A reset fixed it.
Thank you, smile I will take a look on the Facebook site.

Could just be a case of a reset.

Looking at the 12V battery, and the voltage, that all checks out.

Bit of an update with the i Pace, it really is a fantastic thing, and to be honest, one of the best cars ever owned.

Very enjoyable to drive, more so than it should be with it's weight. Also, the acceleration still amazes me each time. At the moment it's charging from a 3 pin charger, but the dealership hanst been much use claiming the pod point. I messages JLR direct, and they've now sent the info to get it fitted. This will mean a full charge each morning, which will be nice.

I decided to take the car to Minehead (butlins for the little one!!) 115 miles there, and 115 back, the car was lovely on the way, just drove as normal, the range, as it is would be able to make it back, but I wanted to give it a top up whilst I was here, Strangly there was a couple of 120kw chargers in a small car park a 4 mine drive, I topped it up this morning, this took no time at all. This took it from 115 to 198 miles. The Range does seem quota accurate as well.

Also, that strange warning hasn't appeared again, which is good!

Glad you're enjoying it, it's a great car.

Just regards the warning, make sure your 12v batteries (there are 2) are holding a charge, as this is a well known issue with the iPace which can manifest itself in all sorts of ways, messing with the electronics.
Might be with it being sat at the dealer they've let it run low, so when you've driven it charged it they have topped up the 12 v batteries. If you've got a Android phone the WattCatt app is useful to keep an eye on the 12v status.

Hopefully it was just a blip but if you get it again take it back to the dealer. Should replace the batteries under warranty anyway but if left can lead to all sorts of issues (reports of one locking brakes up whilst on the motorway!)
Certainly a great bit of kit!

Ah, thank you. Could well have been the dealership, I think it's been sat on the forcourt for a bit,

Great app that, I downloaded it the other day, certainly gives a very impressive amount of information, I shall keep an eye on what the 12V battery is doing.

Blimy, scary how the battery can effect it like that. I remember I had a discovery 4, as the battery was failing, all sorts of odd things happened to the electrics.

Gonna follow this as these have caught the eye. We bought an electric Mii just 4 weeks back and are learning our way around things. Oddly enough, I ended up charging the 12 volt battery on it as it was well below 12v when I checked.

Keep us up to date with stuff (and real range too!)

cheers
I would highly recommend one. I must admit, I didn't think they had 12V batteries now, and that the main drive battery pack ran the ancillaries as well, so was quite surprised to find out it does have them!

Will be sure to keep it all up to date smile

After seeing this post I did a little digging around as I've got a huge softspot for the i-Pace, unfortunately when we went in to our lcoal Jag garage last night with our Labrador, we quickly found that the boot just isn't big enough for her to comfortably be carted around in and the mrs wrote the i-Pace off as a main family car.

Having said that, if you're in a position to make a quick move then Oracle (the finance broker one) currently have some great prices via one of their funders for electric cars. I was able to get a quote yesterday for a £42k i-Pace HSE for £6k deposit +£294/month for 2years at 12k miles/year. Certainly a cheap way of having one of these with all the toys. Just food for thought as at that price I was ready to pull the trigger last night if I'd been green lighted on the boot by the mrs.
I would agree with regards to the boot, I think it's the sloping roof line that doesn't help either. I did this same trip to Minehead a couple of months ago, in the 159, I found it easier to get everything in than in the I Pace this time. Luckily all it has to do at home is swallow a doubke buggy.

They certainly are a lot of car for the money, considering the original price too. I was originally looking for an SE or HSE, but found this S with the air suspension.

This one's here to stay I think, it's on a PCP deal for 28 months, so good for me as well. It really is a great bit if kit though, certainly one of the best cars I've owned before, so looking forward to more time with it.

I'm slowly getting confident with the predicted range, turns out it's pretty accurate, which is good.
