My Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 V10
Discussion
Where do I start... I had the Clio V6 for 3 years, had my fun with it and managed to make a bit of profit too. I'd been watching the market on these Gallardos about 5 years ago (when they were cheaper, but hey ho) and was waiting and wanting to hear some horror stories about catastrophic bills... but there weren't many, if any (well, 4321go considered). The recent passing of a good mate of mine has made me realise that life is far too short and you absolutely seize the day. RIP Broon, I told you I'd get one in the end
So, the Clio got sold to one of those raffle companies (I've bought a few tickets to see if I can win it back ):
Also sold my Golf GTE daily to fund the Gallardo and now I'm pottering about in a leggy, £1500 diesel Seat Exeo. No photos of that, yet.
Anyway, bought the Gallardo from Fleet, and I'm in Newcastle so worked out cheaper to get https://russwaitetransport.co.uk/ to deliver it for me. When it arrived I was hoping for a low-key drop off but sometimes a covered vehicle transporter hints that there may be something beyond the norm inside and that's what the neighbours thought too... they were all out with their phones and kids
Got it unloaded, went for a quick drive to familiarise myself with the e-Gear system (and embarrassed myself a couple of times not being able to get it out of neutral, stting myself, then realising that you need your foot on the brake to engage 1st gear when in neutral )
Removed the frunk and fitted the CTEK to it and parked it in the Clio's old home
I'll take some better photos over the weekend when I get a chance

Congrats on your purchase and for moving on your V6 so quickly, though it did look to be in really good condition.
You must be really thin and agile, the car obviously does go in to the garage but the door thickness alone takes up half the gap to the wall and it's not really that doable to climb over the transmission tunnel to get out the other side.
Be prepared for lots of attention, waves, people slowing down in other cars to take on the move videos, etc. And enjoy.
It's immaculate, I love it. The paint is pearlescent so I'll have to take better photos of it. Garage fitting was a struggle, but I think I'll drive it in forwards tonight with the passenger door against the wall. Attention wise, I'm thinking I might struggle with at first, I normally don't give a fk what people think about me but driving it last night was a strange feeling. Even getting it delivered was an event, the whole street were out for the show. The next door neighbour's little boy has already had his photo taken in it! Apart from the E gear being a little slow-witted I really enjoyed the thump between gears and I know a lot are now feeling the same.
Yeah it's a bit clunky but I'm sure once I'm used to it it'll become better - plus I always have it in Sport mode (to save on the clutch wear) so I suspect the changes might be purposely harsher. Honestly, thanks everyone for the messages. It's a dream come true really, and I don't think it will ever sink in! Regarding the clutch, I've not felt any slippage at all - next year I'm going to factor in a clutch and flywheen change (£4K) anyway, but I'll get a clutch life check done anyway. It was changed less than 10K miles ago and judging by the condition of the car, it's had a very easy life. I certainly won't be changing that!
Took it to a local car show (hello to the Porsche owner I parked next to who recognised the car from here!) yesterday for a bit of a day out with me Dad.
For anyone thinking about getting one of these, do it. They're more affordable than you probably think as long as you do your research. I don't particularly have a well paid job, but at the grand old age of 40 I thought it was an opportunity not to be missed.
Weather permitting this weekend, I'll be giving it a good wash and polish.

That looks fantastic, congratulations.
Quite spooky that I took a similar path a few years ago, a Renaultsport to a Gallardo. Not a V6, but an R26.. for very similar reasons!
The reason I feel it's spooky as the number plates are very similar..
Enjoy the V10, I fitted a Tubi cat back and the sound was absolutely glorious
Yours looks lovely - there was an orange one for sale local to me but the black wheels put me off. Regarding your exhaust, where did you get it from?Quite spooky that I took a similar path a few years ago, a Renaultsport to a Gallardo. Not a V6, but an R26.. for very similar reasons!

I tried a new technique last night - driving it in forwards, with the passenger side as close to the side as possible. Seemed to work better than reversing it in, which is now my new way of parking it up. selym said:
Winning! How does it compare and contrast (in driving terms) to the old faithful VX220?!
I'll be honest... nothing will ever eclipse a remapped VX220 Turbo for driving excitement in my opinion. They are simply sensational. scottos said:
Also, well done for getting the next door neighbors kid in it for his parents to get a picture, us car enthusiasts inspire the next generations through acts like that and that moment may well stay with him for many years to come!
Yeah, when you have a nice car you have to appreciate that other people get as much joy from seeing one as you do from owning one. In fact when it was getting unloaded he was watching out the window and said 'p4cks has got a lambo' which made me laugh!TheLoraxxZeus said:
Epic car but my god that Renault Sport banner is looking a little sad. Should have gave it to the new owner
Yeah, it'll be going the distance soon enough. The company that bought it were one of those raffle companies and weren't interested in anything other than the car. I'm selling the Renault sign so I'll stick all three in with whoever buys it. 250 miles in and the car is absolutely fantastic. I used to think my VX220 turbo was the quickest car I'd ever own but this thing just wants to go and go even at 80
Anyway, replaced a £3.27 oil pipe seal (N91104101) that was causing a tiny oil leak which is a common problem on the Gallardo. Was a fk on to get to the bd thing but thankfully Bull Rider on YouTube made a video of how to do it which I must have watched 50 times
Was hoping to take more photos but it started raining
What a masterpiece though

You're a braver man than me, I haven't done much to mine personally other than fit the battery conditioner and retrofit cruise control.
It's gone into RE in Swindon today to have the seized rear roof release catch replaced, hopefully I'll get it back in time for a few autumn runs.
4321 GO was there as well, which is a G that I'm sure I've seen on these pages.
It was quite easy actually, and the only special tool I needed to buy was a magnetic torx wrench from Amazon for £12! Out of curiosity, how did you do your retro cruise? I really could have done with cruise today It's gone into RE in Swindon today to have the seized rear roof release catch replaced, hopefully I'll get it back in time for a few autumn runs.

Missed this when you got it but that’s bloody awesome! Well done to you - realised I need to get moving as I’m a couple of years older than you and my ‘Ferrari at 40’ goal has been and gone.
Massive well done to you for getting the job done - a yellow Lamborghini must be about as exciting a car as you can get for the money…..now reassure me over the next few months that they’re easy to live with!
Nahhhhhhh don't judge yourself against anyone else or any other arbitrary figure like age. I've not earned this car; I fluked it. I was just lucky in how much I made on the Clio which made the step closer than ever and too close to let passMassive well done to you for getting the job done - a yellow Lamborghini must be about as exciting a car as you can get for the money…..now reassure me over the next few months that they’re easy to live with!

Hi Jon! The Lambo is a sensation, there's no two ways about it but I will always hanker for another VXT
I can still remember the day you bought it it was one of the first cars I ever sold Armitage.Shanks said:
I was going to ask about reversing. How 8s the visibility and placing of it given the absence of sensors etc?
It’s odd but 30yrs ago I could reverse a transit van into a tight space but over reliance on ‘aids’ these days seems to have recalibrated me!
It's not too bad actually, although I do try and avoid reversing at all costs! It’s odd but 30yrs ago I could reverse a transit van into a tight space but over reliance on ‘aids’ these days seems to have recalibrated me!
