My Gartrac Escort G6
Discussion
hi bought it 2 years ago as a running wreck. Spent since the rebuilding it, it is a genuine gartrac built car except it has now got a yb cossy fitted instead of the v6 2.8i. It is the proper extended version with all new fabricated inner wings and Gartrac suspension not a modified mk4 running sierra bits.
regarding is it a G4 i presume you are thinking because it is now a 4cyl. well the G4 was when Gartrac as a company did the rwd conversion to a mk4 escort. The G3 was the first type with usually a BDA in it mostly used for competition. The G6 was developed with the XR centre from Southampton who marketed the vehicle from new.
I do have more pics and spec i will post later .

hi folks looking at the 1st photo i can see what you mean, but this is also amplified by the fact that the wheelbase is longer than a standard mk3, this therefor e makes the vehicle look out of proportion. Also the sun was very bright on a polished car. i will post some more pics soon
thanks for compliments it makes the hard work worthwhile.

Thanks for info Patternpart. I have also spoken to Martin from Surrey in the past as i nearly purchased the yellow G6. But got this one instead, he supplied me with some original sales brochures from the XR centre in Southampton and some other info. There is going to be a feature in the coming month or so in a well known mag i have just got a few bits to finish off then it will be ready
thanx for looking

Hi folks in reply to recent posts this was bought from a guy in Luton called Nick. Before that it was owned by an italian guy from London who had owned it from being modified by Gartrac. The car was black when i bought it and has always been black. I decided to paint it red as i think they always looked best in red. I also know of another blue version on a Y plate that had the round type arches. i dont know if it is still alive that was about 12 year ago. I am having a feature soon in Performance Ford, when business commitments let me go and play! then i think i wil be putting it up for sale as much as i like the car i have a new project in the pipeline. I am taking it to Harvey Gibbs for a mapping session and to get some proper figures next week all being well.
Thanks for continued good comments nice to see people still like these old jems.

I have got some photos of the GAA one and Ayrton Senna testing one in wales.
i will dig them out and post asap
Original mk3 g6's are easy to spot under bonnet because the have been basically chopped from bulkhead and complete new inner wing, turrets, stiffners etc replaced and not the original rounded turrets. Also wheel base is made longer at front end.
Cheers
