Ok so whilst the golf is off the road being re built, i needed a run about for the time being.

Spoke to my father and asked him about borrowing a car, he first suggested a 156 then after asking him "what else he had in the warehouse" he offered me his GTV V6 turbo..... i didn't hesitate!

Its a very rare car indeed, 1 of 7 in the UK or so im told. this particular one has not seen the light of day in 3 years and it needs some love.

Its a 2.0 V6 turbo and to be honest, it goes very well indeed, i'll probably end up buying it off him, but then thats probably why he lent it to me

Back home:

After a good wash, clay and polish:

I've not even started on the interior yet! note its a left hooker:

The business end, needing some sprucing up, infact i'll replace the chrome pipes next week:

Blimey,

didnt know these existed... That engine needs some of your TLC.. looking forward to seeing it when its done wink

How much do you reckon its worth on the market?
No idea, i think they go for around 9,000 euros in Italy, but i couldn't tell you what its worth in the UK.

Yeah i think some powdercoating and a general tidy up of the engine and engine bay is on the cards, its also going for a service this weekend.

The amount of crap that came off it was unreal, i washed it 4 times before claying, washed it again then polished it twice!

The interior is going to take some work too, but it'll be very tidy once its sorted.

I'm not sure on the stat's, and i've not had chance to really put it through its paces yet, it was missfiring slightly to start with but once that cleared it was very smooth and very fast, its more of a linear power delivery than a shove that you'd expect from a turbo.

comparing the 3.0 to this, not much in it if i'm honest, the turbo comes in very early almost diesel early so there's not much lag. I'd have to drive them back to back to really notice any difference between the two.

As for the offset, they are not the origional wheels, but i was thinking of getting some teledials or something to fill the arches out a little better!

2 of THE best wheels designs available!! FYI when i enquired about 17" Teledials from a breakers they wanted 500quid and they wouldnt confirm the tyre condition!

The wheels i have are 1 set of 147 ones and one set of original flat faced small tear drop ones.
Ah i know the ones.

Yeah I think something a little wider would be perfect, Ch's might be better than Lm's in this instance but i've never really seen any GTV's on different wheels...

Drove it yesterday, It feels more like a fiat coupe 20vt in terms of the way it picks up but just a little smoother, I am really starting to like it alot i must admit!

Very interesting motor!

I wonder if a bit more power could be coaxed out of it? Any idea what turbo it uses?
No idea but it has an over boost switch, that i was told not to press hehe

I would imagine its fairly easy to strap another turbo onto it as long as the injectors and FPR are up to the job

Be interested to see what kind of economy you get from it. I've been tempted to flog my Fiat Coupe for a V6 GTV for a while, but the dire fuel economy of the V6 for no performance improvement over the 20VT puts me off.
It's not bad, if im honest its no different to the Fiat coupe 20vt, although if you are looking for the same shove i think you will be disappointed.

If i'm brutally honest i'd stick with the Coupe, even thought the turbo is a rare GTV i'd rather have my Vinci Grey LE back. Sorry Alfa fans!

IIRC the wheels are from a 166?

They look really good on your GTV imo, maybe a spacer for the rear axle?
I have thought about spacing the rear however, i think the car needs something special like 17" speedline splits or something in 18"..... we'll see.

Well it's been fun, the noise this thing makes is so addictive!!

Its had a replacement altenator and has been fine ever since, i think the only fault has been the windscreed wiper blade fell off...

I've had my fun so its up for sale, well it will be when i can be arsed to put an advert up smile

If you advertise this on alfaowner I dare say there would be some interest.
I'm in no rush at the moment but good call, maybe next month when work calms down a bit i'll take some decent photo's and put it up for sale, was planning to tidy up the engine bay with some new pipes and some powdercoat as it looks a bit crap.

what kind of figure would you be looking for in order for someone to take her off your hands....?

The turbo V6 was built to get around IT tax laws that peanilised the 3.0 V6 massively btw.. there are quiet a few alfa cars with this engine in over there
If i'm honest i've no idea, i've only just decided to sell, mainly because i've got too many cars hanging around again and i need to get rid of some.

It's a tough one, i guess listen to offers or ebay with a reserve and see what happens.

285 torques?! Are you sure old bean?

Woeful engine pics btw. A bit of metal polish and half an hour of effort would sort it out a treat.
The chrome pipes have surface rust and the covers are oxidised so no amount of cleaning is going to change that, if i had the time to do it i'd replace the pipes with new ones and powdercoat the covers.
