Hi All,

Well ive been a broswer on Pistonheads for a long time but never posted, always bought and sold cars from here.

So i thought id post my current build up, and get flamed for putting so much power through the front wheels biggrin

It all started last year, at 24 i went through a divorce and i kinda went crazy. So i started this build whilst trying to go flat out on my 600RR everywhere.

Now that im "normal" again, i do think what have i done, its abit mental.

Previous list of cars since i was 17:

Saxo VTR
106 GTI
106 GTI
IS200
VX220
DC2 R
VX220
DC5 R
VX220 Turbo
DC5 R
172 Cup
DC5 R
JDM DC2 R
EVO IX
DC2 R
Accord R

Cars spec is listed below and current build up. Should be strapping on the Turbo early June and getting mapped. Almost done. Just running the new engine in at the mo, taking a while because the clutch is an animal. Hopefully mapping boost by gear will aid traction, will have a couple of boost settings so its useable, 300hp - 450hp - Full Power.

We built it to this spec, and are not chasing a power figure, just see what we get. Been told 650hp @ engine with 12% transmission loss so 570whp will come easy. Someone has the same spec as us in the US and made 780hp @ fly. Thats nuts. We will be setting a safe rev limit at 9200rpm. Engine is build for 10,000rpm.

I dont know what im expecting as i said i started it when i wasnt thinking right but im following it through.

Dont know what i will do with it once its done, daily use, track, drag. Maybe Carbon lined syncro's and change 5th gear and go for 200mph. Or just leave it as it is and use it when i have a fresh supply of huggies pull ups.

Well heres the spec and pics:

Fair play.. but i have to ask:

how much have you lost on cars over the year, and how much as that one cost you so far?

And why did you choose that model/make to go crazy on? Why no the DC5 or the clio or the Evo?

Cheers and good luck.. you getting a LSD or uprated gearbox?
Not much to be honest, because i buy and sell quickly, my cars are always mint so sell well. I never went crazy on the others apart from the Saxo, it was just breathing mods ECU and handling, so quote mild. EVO was at 425hp/435lbft but was Stolen last year frown

If i hadnt of gone through my divorce this project wouldnt have existed i wouldnt have started it, hence why i never went crazy on ther others.

I just never had an Accord before so i thought id try one.

Cheers, it has a strong LSD as standard, the gearbox should be fine because the clutch is so strong. If it does die, Carbon Lined Syncro's and Gears will be going in.

What a monster! I hope its going to look fairly standard like the 3rd pic from the bottom thumbup
Yes, exterior will be standard, Intercooler hidden. Only differences externally will be lowered ride height, wheels, brakes, and single exit exhaust (might get it done diesel style pointing down biggrin

Why has the turbo been pictured on top of a white JDM DC2 engine and why does the odd whitebrace thing appear to have been fitted to a grey Evo IV?
Are the water marks on the evo pic and the other brace pictures not obvious enough for you?

As to why it is on a DC2 I am not sure but is it not likely to be his car as well lol
Its parts ive ordered from UltraRacing, they are on there way, its an Accord CH1 not a EVO IV.

The white car, is a Civic Hatch EG6, my mates, my tuner also built that, B18C6 motor, UK DC2 R engine, 13:1 compression, Stage 3, Making power at 10200rpm N/A. Mental!

Here's a video: http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/JayKullar/?...

Only put it on that engine just for a pic, so it shows how big the turbo actually is smile

Nuts! Love it! Turbo charged honda engines are something I find very interesting.

One question - why have you got a turbo with an intenal wastegate when you have a manifold for an external gate (and the wastegate to go with it)?

Is that the unit you are going to use?

Nice tho - would love one of these high revving turbo lumps in something like a caterfield or a zcars conversion.
Its a Holset turbo which are use on Trucks/Boats etc, but alot of the guys in the US use them as they a extremely strong at high boost pressures and the service intervals are long.

My tuner said it requires the internal and external waste to opperate properly (and be mapped) something about boost creep.

Id love this in an S2000! But that would be asking for a 5'8" wooden box!

I have never (ever) seen a turbo setup with both internal AND external gates - and I have studied a lot of turbo setups (a serious obsession of mine for a while now, maybe 10 years).

Why not just use a larger external gate? Manifold won't take it? How are you going to control the actuators? Sequentialy? What are you going to use to do that?

Did your guy build the block / head up?

Good luck with it!
Manifold is cast so alot stronger than all these fancy manifolds with plenty of welds. I have no idea, as im not mapping it, nor that technicailly minded when it comes to turbo's ive pretty much always been N/A, but he said it will run both internal and external wastgates. Thor are taking on the mapping of the AEM EMS.

Yeah my tuner really composed the spec and build it up. He built a Civc Type R EK9 1.8 VTEC Turbo and that ran 500whp @ 1.5bar pushed to 9850rpm. That is nuts.

10 years is a series obsession Ad, i think my hair would start falling out if it was me! biggrin

Must've been mistaken (about the choice of car)

Seen it outside Amars for a while and assumed it was summat to do with Rik but clearly not.

Cant wait to see (drive) it!

smile
Aye mate, i kept it on the low down for quite a while, but did the suspension/bracing etc at Amar's, so suprised you didnt notice.

Picking it up tomorrow evening, then will do a few bits over the weekend, use it for a week put a good 300 miles more on it. Then Turbo time biggrin

Deffo mate, im sure you will give it a good abusing! biggrin

Well heres a pic of the car as it is currently.

Didnt do much on the weekend. Bled front brakes, Sprayed rear hubs, changed drop links, fitted Tein strut brace.

Rear sits high as ive not adjusted it yet, suspension setup will be once its mapped. Clutch is still an animal, really hard, and agressive on the up and downshifts. However it seems to be bedding in as i can get a biteing point now. smile

Whats left to do:
Installed Turbo parts
7th June - Blueflame to build downpipe and exhaust
10th June - mapping
14th June Suspension setup / geo
15th June Body mop, valet etc.

So thats the plan, fingers crossed we can stay on schedule.

Cheers
Jay

It has a LSD as standard, but its not as agressive as the DC5. Gearbox will remain stanard for now, we dont know if its going die or how quickly. Clutch is really agressive on the up and especially downshifts, which i feel is hurting the box. Carbon Syncro's will do the trick, but will see if it strips the gears, i want to change 5th gear anyway as i might try and go for 200mph in FWD, it will only hit 184mph @ 9350rpm.

Cheers Joe.

The clutch should stop it from destorying the syncro's on the upshift, however i have to remember to plant the clutch all the way down, its so damn heavy.

My tuner build a Civic Type R EK9 which runs over 500hp and the stock gearbox is perfect, never missed a beat.

Time will tell i guess. One way to find out, standing mile, flat out biggrin

It wont be lowered to much at the rear, i prefer the nose down look myself. smile

NOOOWWWW THEN!! Sunday i put the Turbo on, its just bolted on so the downpipe and exhaust can be made up, its rather big. Lmao. Will spin it round, might be able to close the bonnet, if not the bonnet will be slightly cut out and a slight bluge and vent.

What i long day yesterday was, dropped the car at Blueflame. After speaking with blueflame and telling them that it makes no difference to us which root the downpipe takes, along with the external waste gate piping, they are going to turn the turbo over, this would allow the bonnet to be closed, however im unsure if the Turbo will clear the alternator. But they will give it ago and see if it works.

3" Downpipe with Flange on the Turbo, Flow formed bends, they look very very nice biggrin 38mm Internal wastegate (staying on), and 38mm external wastegate will not sit directly on the manifold, ive asked blueflame to make a pipe coming of the top the of manifold, going to externalwaste gate so it sits infront of the head, and then the pipe will continue to the downpipe.

Wideband to go in the downpipe. 3" Pipe work and center silencer to be tucked up high as possible, and single exit which will come from drivers side.

Leaving them to it now, more than capable. Once they have built it, i'll get them to email me some pictures, and post them, as i then want them to take it so i can get the car back on the truck without damaging it.

Hopefully pics later this week.

Cheers
Jay

Next to a JDM STI Turbo.

thats absolutely insane!

Please keep it looking like it is - it looks good, but basically its a sleeper.

I just think of the "VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO!" pics. But you'd need another one below with "TURBO JUST KICKED IN ON TOP OF VTEC. SHIIIIIIIIITTTTTT!"

Whats the current estimates on the power of that engine?
lol, thats ace comment.

Engine is built for 800hp and 10,000rpm. We are going to keep well within tolerances. As its my road car. Road map will be 280/300. Then have another 2 at 400whp and 500whp. That would be 560 engine power. The goal was 500whp, even though we have built well above that spec, im ensuring we do not go power hunting, as that leads to disaster. What we get we will gladly take leaving massive margins for reliablility. Someone with a simular setup is running 780hp in the US.

Cant wait for boost and VTEC pulling me all the way to 9200rpm biggrin

Internal and External Wastegates for this Turbo are needed as per my tuner. Both 38mm.

The Intake side of the Turbo is being taken of this weekend and will be facing down. So thats that sorted.

I looked at the cooling side of things last weekend, only had 3 hrs on the car all weekend. Plumbing looks fine also. I had to make a couple of modifications to get the intercooler in.

Exhaust tip now the cars on the ground, looks nice, not to big or in your face.

Im dedicating my whole weekend to finishing the intercooler & pipe work, rad and oil cooler. I only have weekends as i work away. If i can get that done this weekend, fuel pumps, gauges, leads, turbo lines, etc over the next weekend or get my mate to do it, then shes going of to Thor who are mapping the AEM EMS.

Parts bought for this build were chosen because of there performance capabilities more so how they will fit. I make it fit biggrin

Looking forward to cracking on over the weekend.
