So, after paying a deposit over 2 weeks ago, I finally picked up my new E39 yesterday biggrin It's to replace my E39 520i that I've had for a year, and loved, but it just didn't have enough pace, so I went out and bought a big V8.

Bought it from a member of the owners club, and it seems to have been well looked after.

She's a manual 2000 535i Sport, and IMO - absolutely gorgeous! Drove it last night after getting it, and I absolutely love it!

Spec so far (copied from the advert):

Black Grilles
4002K HIDs fitted
50k miles genuine M5 suspension all round fitted (shocks and springs)
New top mounts
Brand new PAS pump/fluid from BMW (genuine)
New belts all round.
Brake Fluid
NSR Anti-Roll Bar Drop Link
Gearbox Oil Change
Sparkplugs
New Rocker Cover Gaskets (both banks)
Custom Build Rear Exhaust Section (nice refined sound)
18” Parallel Staggered Wheels – diamond cut.

Some pictures I've taken of it

Handles great with the M5 suspension.. grips really well, and she pulls pretty well!

Plans for the future:

Re spray front bumper and bonnet
Remove V8 badges on the wings
Get a new headlight to replace leaking one

Cheers, and yeh, I'm not a fan of the mud flaps either. Might remove them this weekend.

be careful, i had the same thoughts and took them off my Mk3 VR6, then realised they had just been 'self tappered' in to the front wing and i was left with a rather rusty looking wing once removed!!
Indeed! Think they're attached to the bumper anyway, so shouldn't be too bad.

Get that headlight sorted, it ruins it completely!
I don't think you need to fully replace the headlight as the clear plastic covers can be removed from the unit. Try and see where the seal is broken and seal it up. Dry it out first before re-sealing. I had the same problem on my e46. HTH
I've had the same issue on my old E39.. it's not always as easy as just resealing it. Did it on my old one, and it just kept leaking! I will be having a go at it though

Common problem on the E39's. I took both my lights apart and siliconed it all up, did the trick.
Yeh? Like I say, tried this on my old one, but didn't work. Will give it a go on this car this weekend probably smile

Am I the only one not keen on the black kidney grills? Lovely lovely car though, wouldn't mind one inthe future!
I wasn't too sure on them at first TBH, but they've grown on me!

Nope - the stock exhaust tip is a single circular in a similar style. The previous owner went for an OE look, but something that makes it sound a little nicer (rear silencers removed) smile

Does the exhaust boom at all when just cruising with that setup? I could fancy doing the same.
Not really, no

Lovely car. Is this a 5 or 6 speed manual? What kind of 0-60 time did the 535 get officially?
The 535i is a 5 speed. Only the 540i Manual and M5 were 6 speed in E39 flavour.

official BMW time is 0-60 in 6.9, however I have read it's closer to 6.5 smile

BBS LM's are probably my favourite aftermarket wheels, but even the standard wheels look just as good IMO!
