I had a 535i Auto (v8) but recently had a change in circumstances, which meant I could no longer afford to run it, so...

I traded it for this A4 and a bit of cash.

Nice car, are you going to do anything to it?
Thanks.

No plans other than just to enjoy it as much as I can.

Looks good - inside and out.

You liking it?
So far, yes. I previously owned a 2.8 Quattro, but fell out of love with it due to rattles, oil consumption and various others maladies. At least the 1.8 should be much better on fuel!

Looks good, i've got 1 too but not a quattro. Looks like yours has been lowered a touch?
I thought that myself, however it looks as though only the back seems to be riding a little low?

Is this one of the 1.8T Quattro 'Sports'? Looks like it from the wheels, I think these were 180 bhp, 6 speed, rather than the normal 150 bhp, 5 speed?
This is indeed a Sport. According to the options list, it is a 132kW engine - 132kW = 177bhp or 179ps.

It has a 5 speed box though.

I use the excellent options decoder to work out what options the car was supplied with. A really good site.

Standard on a quattro Sport.
I got the original product brochure with the car.

And this is exactly how she looks.

I'll scan it if anybody is interested.

How do you find the handling, like changing direction through an S bend as these do seem to have a rep as a bit of a heavy barge.
I've had a 2.8 Quattro previously and despite comments of "front heavy" I always found it quite driveable and willing to change direction quickly.

I expect the 1.8 Turbo to be no different, although it is (I presume) quite a bit lighter at the front, therefore I would expect it to be even better by all accounts.

Lowered by virtue of the fact that *both* rear springs are broken!

Was driving on Saturday, and went over a speedbump (just as I usually do, nice and easy - the speedbump can practically be straddled anyway) and !kerchung! from the left rear.....

So I got home and took the left rear wheel off, and lo and behold, the coil has snapped at the base, leaving the broken piece trapped in the bottom coil.

So I removed the right rear wheel, only to find a piece of spring (this time at the top) sticking out..

So yes, you could say it's been lowered lol.

Going back to the dealer this week for new springs.

So far yes, apart from the saga of two broken rear springs! So I've not been able to drive it much...

Looking the through the massive history file, the spoiler was indeed fitted later in the cars life.
