Hi there, i go on the forum daily but haven't introduced myself apart from on the south west forum. I have a massive love for all things Porsche and have worked pretty darn hard to save up and get one as soon as i could. I got the Porsche bug from my dad as our family/only car was a 911. It started off with a guards red 964 targa which progressed into a polar silver 993 which suffered from a couple of problems. So whilst it was getting fixed we had one of the first 996 cabriolets in England as a courtesy car which was awesome. The 993 never returned as it was upgraded to a zenith blue 996. This was a great car but as Porsche's were getting more common, it didn't get quite as many looks as with the previous porsches. So he traded that one in for a speed yellow carrera but with the GT3 aerokit. This was the car that made me decide to start saving even though I was 13 at the time. Things moved on and an E class estate arrived which ended the Porsche links. However, the Cayenne came along and after test driving one we were hooked again and a Cayenne was welcomed into the family (which was later stolen and never to be seen again).

So i turned 17 in 2007 and had a Corsa C for my first car which i spent a bit of money on (as most 17yr olds do)

I started getting the wrong sort of attention in the car so bought a new Corsa D which i loved. It was supposed to stay with me whilst i was at uni so that i could have a reliable car i could depend on. However, things dont totally turn out to that plan.

Whilst i had the Corsa my dad secured a new company car which i was insured on. Me and my dad give each other loads of banter about cars...especially as this is a diesel!!!

So where does this lead...well i had been looking at Boxsters since i had passed my test. I knew i could afford the car...but could i afford to run one and insure it?
Well it had got to the point where i was trawling the classifieds daily sometimes hourly waiting for 'THE' car. I got a few insurance quotes and the cheapest i was looking at fully comp was nearly 4k. it should've put me off but i kept looking untill one morning a car appeared which was exactly the spec i wanted. It was the 3.2s, 48k, manual, speed yellow, good service history, full leather interior, heated crested sport seats, upgraded speakers and stereo, sport deisgn wheels and lots more!!! It was perfect. Only thing was that i was down in Bristol and the car was in Harrogate. I put a deposit down on it and waited two weeks before travelling up to see it and hopefully bring it home. Last thing to do was to sort out the insurance. I was still 19 but my dad had found me an online quote that seemed too good to be true, but after phoning the company, it was all correct and they actually got me some money off. I still can't believe how much of a good deal i got with it being fully comp and all the extras chucked in (european cover, breakdown etc etc) all for a bargain......£2.3k. Well i spose you could buy a decent car for that but insuring a group 19 porsche at the tender age of 19 i thought was a bargain. After travelling to see the car everything was fine and the deal was done. The drive home was probably the best drive ever. Getting used to the car, the stares, the extra power which is bloody scary when your used to a 1.2 Corsa. So this was back in February and now being 8 months later, I am still very much in love with the car. Its a peach and the past 8 months have just been a constant learning experience especially when the roads are damp. All i've done to the car soo far is fit clear lights apart from the front, and new back tyres and alignment. Apart from that its just fuel it up and go for a drive which always puts a smile on my face.
This was the day i got it after the very long journey home

a couple of weeks later and after a small clean.

Im really into my cleaning so couldn't wait to give it a clay and machine polish. This was during.

leading to the present day

alongside a Panamera 4 Dad had for a test drive (what a cracking car that is!)

and a picutre of me in the panamera

Hope you enjoyed reading and i dont mind updating any progress i have owning the Boxster

Thanks for the comments everyone biggrin

I'm in my last year of uni out of 3 so i have my all important project to do this year. Its a full time course but i have managed to work in a supermarket getting promoted (if you can call it that lol) to night manager. I also valet the odd car for friends aswell.

My insurance company are part of aviva.

And yep the plastic rear window is a nightmare. Having to get out the car and do the Boxster chop. I have been looking at upgrading in the future either to a 550 anniversary edition or the new 987 but for the time being i am very happy staying put.

Cheers everyone

Cheers everyone. I am now 20 but i sure do wish i could have a 3.4 s at 22. Although a 996 turbo may sway me around that price range!

I work a 32 hours week on top of my uni course so i do find time a little hard to find to drive the car. Everytime i do get the chance to though i really enjoy it. I wanted to attend the porscheworld magazine picnic at Windsor at the weekend but had family commitments. Oh and no this is all my own achievement. Dad just got me into Porsches and this motivated me enough to save for one and live the dream!

Spoiler was only up for the pics. I do keep it down...honest!

Oh and yep im also on boxa.net and was on corsa-c.

Thanks for all the comments biggrin

Assuming it's a decent course ie not 1 lecture a fortnight, then bloody hell, you work for it.
It's Psychology and consists of 4 2 hour lectures a week along with my reserach project i have to do in my own time.

Cheers
