Guys I have a 997.2 C4s Cab really low mileage mint condition and my local OPC has kindly(if that's the right word) offered to swap it out for new Boxster S with a decent spec but slight cash adjustment their way of course. Now the thing is I would really like the 991 Cab but cannot justify the difference of 45kyikes I am wondering - new Boxster S or keep the 911? Awesome as the new Boxster is it feels like a slightly downward step, is it? And there is the future value thing to consider in 12 18 months when the irresitible urge to get into a 991 comes up again. confused

Have you driven a 981? A test drive from your kind OPC will help you make an instant decision. IMO the 981 is amazing to drive and can easily out handle the 997.
I have driven both the 991 and the Boxster S and no doubt they are an immense improvement over the 997/987 It wasn't the immediate and easy decision I thought it would be. I think there is something about the 911 (or always used to be at least) that makes it more special than a Boxster. But now I have to say the difference is too close to call for me anyway! I think if I were coming into the brand now it would be a no brainer for the Boxster, but as it is I feel I would be gaining something but loosing something too.

I think it's a personal thing and you need to drive the 981 on a lengthy test drive. I once traded my 96 993 for a brand new Boxster-S in 2000, and within 3 months, I was back in a 911.

I'm not saying the Boxster is'nt a great car, but for some, it well never be able to replace a 911, and I'm sure the opposite is true.

Good Luck.
This is my main worry! headache
