987 oil surge issues
Discussion
as far as i am aware the gen 2 engines suffer non of the gen1 issues especially oil surge as it has 4 oil pumps one for each head plus a fifth in th sump, this is backed up by the guys on the planet 9 forum who race their caymans/boxsters and have given 100s of reliable track hours whereas gen1 engines would suffer oil starvation etc
Some of the 986s and 987s that are raced in the UK are fitted with baffled sumps specifically for this reason - but not all. I've tracked my own road 986 about 17 times now on various UK circuits and its never been an issue - on the other hand, a guy did generate an oil cloud James Bond might have been proud of in his 986 at Bedford last year, so it can happen.
This is the type of information I was looking for. Many thanks.
I hear what you're saying Spyderman - I compete in MSA sprints and a fellow competitor who uses a 3.2 Box with LSD and R tyres hasn't had a single problem. I personally though am not prepared to take the risk hence my original question.

MY Cayman R has done 10,500 miles and four or five track days.
It's running road tyres so probably is not representative of high G situations -- though towards the end of a Cadwell Park trackday this week we had no trouble overtaking GT3RS on PS Cups --- not sure what this says.
I don't want to fit PS Cups and wear off the inner shoulders, but I would love to fit N rated Pilot Super Sports -- if/when they are available.
I want to keep it a road car, but it is astonishingly capable.
I have really looked for contra indications in fitting stickier tyres and doing more track days, and the bottom line is that I am finding none.
The Intermark series in the SA suggests no issues so far, and we must now be at the end of the second or third season.
I wish our 968 CS race car had been so reliable !!
