I'm aware that the gen 1 987's can suffer from oil surge when used on track, but was wondering if this is still an issue with the gen 2 dfi engine and in particular the Cayman R.

Anyone??

My motive for asking is I'm considering selling my track car over the coming months and was considering purchasing a Cayman R for trackdays. Since my current Cayman S has a timebomb engine I am not prepared to risk tracking it so will the DFI be a safer option?

Someone must have an insight into this surely!

Is there any evidence that the 3.4 dfi engine suffers from bore scoring, D chunk failure, oil surge or ims issues? smile

This is the type of information I was looking for. Many thanks.

I hear what you're saying Spyderman - I compete in MSA sprints and a fellow competitor who uses a 3.2 Box with LSD and R tyres hasn't had a single problem. I personally though am not prepared to take the risk hence my original question.

I have and that's why I'm asking about the Gen 2 because I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire. smile
