Been quoted just over £2k for new clutch and flywheel on my 997s. Car is 6 years old with full OPC history. Purchased 13 months ago from Same OPC. Only 27k miles from new and was serviced 10 months ago (major) with no comment on the clutch then although it has done a further 3k miles since then. Never tracked or driven in anger. Should I ask for a discount and if so how much?
Realistic Advice appreciated as I don't want to annoy the OPC who have been very good up to now.

Thank you for the responses. I am not arguing on whether it is a wear and tear item as it clearly is and yes I do mainly stop - start driving and it may well be on its original clutch. That said I have never had a clutch fail in my previous cars including my M3 but hey may be I am getting older or traffic getting worse! I was not clear about the flywheel. Does that always need replacing as well? What does it do and why would it go? In terms of goodwill I was thinking of asking for a 10-15% discount is that unrealistic?

Thanks everyone. All done and my pocket is £2k lighter. Clutch feels very different now very smooth. The OPC did a few things on top for free so overall I am happy. Some may have held out for a better deal but ultimately life is too short and I am now back enjoying the car. Hopefully will last until I upgrade in about 18 months!!

Was out today and changed from 1st to second when all of a sudden the gear lever went loose. Now car stuck in first. Any ideas? Feels like the linkage has gone?

LoL!
No it happened earlier today and it took them 60 minutes to get a low loader out to me and the Guy was suitably cautious in loading the car. it has lowered suspension (porsche sports suspension before anyone says warranty is invalid)!

Hope it is an inexpensive fix as having spent 2k for a clutch a few months ago would not be too impressed if something major has gone awry.

All done under warranty apparently new gear cables required. Top job and excellent service. Hope no further issues for a while.
