996 GT3 On Parole
Discussion
So like quite a few others Today I went and got my car out of storage to take it for a run.
While it had been tucked away it had had a bit if a clean. When I dropped it off you couldn't even read the rear numberplate, it was that dirty.
Unfortunately the storage unit is down a pretty stty road to say the least. I'd made it all of 600 yards from the building when I heard a now well recognised thunk from under the car.
Yep, another splitter....
Gave it a wipe off, chucked it behind the seats and set off.
First stop, Catt and Fiddle.
It may have been ruined with the average speed cameras now, but that wasn't an issue today. The roads were very slippery with patches of black ice on the smaller roads.
Luckily the car still has on the ATS Radial wheels and Continental WinterContact TS830p tyres I put in the car before Christmas. I think they look bloody good for the price and being non-OEM (shock horror!!)
There was even still quite a bit of snow up here.
Had a pootle around for a couple of hours then headed home. Used it to go and drop off some dry cleaning and do a bit of shopping too. The cage and harnesses are a bit overkill for the A34 bypass round Wilmslow though. Need to find a decent way to secure them out of the way when not in use so that they don't annoyingly bang around the inside of the car.
Glad it's back on the drive, if its only for a few days. Really hoping it snows again so I can find a carpark and do some donuts in it with these winter wheels on. Think I'll keep the splitter off it for now though.

Not in your GT3...Is it much more capable and fun than your old Cayman on those roads? I found that mine badly needed an LSD.
The GT3 is faster in places, but in others I have to slow to a crawl because the splitter catches in the compressions. And yes any car benefits from an LSD on those roads. The engine in the GT3 is just different world compared to the Cayman though. Hard to believe they are even from the same company, let alone basic origins.
