Most of you will be well aware of the significant rise in air cooled values, recently the 964 and in the last year or so, the 3.2.

But what about the 993? Values have been stuck fast for about the last 7 years but we are seeing some movement, certainly on low milers and the Turbo of course. The RS went ballistic ages ago and we dont need to mention the mighty GT2!

But what about the Carreras and Targas? Apparently the below Targa has just sold for 40k! Even with the Diesel typo error!

So, are they on the move, or not?

I wonder if we will ever see a diesel in a 911? Maybe for another thread!

A number of you are saying that the 'ship has sailed', which i think is overstating it, but if this is the case, where do they go from here then?

Could the wheels of been factory ordered, they look too big?

And yet they seemingly fail to fill the arches...
Yes, they are either 18" Turbo hollow spokes (very exp but light) or solid spokes from the C2S. The car looks like it is on the the standard option suspension.

I have the same wheels on mine but with optional lowered suspension M033. This is lowered but not uprated, that would be M030. See my profile picture.

On face value, the one on your link looks pretty good value for money.
That black one does look like good value, but it depends on its actual condition of course.

As I am currently looking I will let you know a few things, SCOM car at 37k, might get at 35k at a push, still too much for me although clearly a nice car. 911 sport car looks lovely however accident write off in 96, so prob a big hit in view of the value of the car at that point. I would be interested at the right price but they are not keen to move on 24k which IMO is too much for car with that history. Above is all my opinion not wanting to upset anyone!
Well that changes things a bit! The car might still be a good one of course, but a write off is a write off and the value has to be adjusted accordingly.

If it was recorded in 96 when it was still fairly new, then it must have been a big one.

What about the Carrera cab at JZM?
Good price?
I think cabs are hard to value as there is a limited market for them. I think its a bit strong, but if its really properly mint then maybe?

I have never seen a black one before either. You can keep those wheels though, dont like em.

Agree with Wozy. Pre or post varioram won't make any difference. Condition and mileage is the key.
Whilst i agree that it shouldnt make a difference, the fact is that it just does.

I say buy on condition only, but the market says otherwise. Low miles and vario adds value.

I suppose the theme of the thread is not whether the 993 is good or crap but whether its worth more money than current and whether values will go to the moon.

If they were truly as good as described by their owners, they would be worth more than they currently are.

Are they a good financial investment? Well, if you stick £25k into a 993 in upgrades and servicing and its still only worth £25k then, it appears not.

Please, no more pics of polished 993s, lets see one being ragged within an inch of its life with mud and shoite sprayed up the sides.
My question was nothing to do with financial investments, hardly any cars are that.

I was asking are they on the way up value wise. It looks like they are.

The wing on that GT2 detracts from the understated looks of the base car. Personally, I'm no lover of the rivets into the arches either. These cars do as much for me as Imprezas and Evos, which is nothing.
Its not pretty, I grant you that, but my god its just harder than a hard thing! Like The Hulk getting angry!

Completely agree. It excited me so much that I took delivery of a brand new car, black with black, back in 1999 on a Friday and it was such a joyeous experience I returned it to the dealer on Monday.
Care to expand?

I don't get comments like this. The interior is indeed simple and basic but cleverly designed, functional and well thought out. It's like a Becker radio or old Rolex.

Less is more.
Thats a great way of putting it. I like to think of the dash as individual and eccentric!

It still makes me smile and shake my head when i get in it. scratchchin

That looks like great value if it checks out. I wonder why the drivers seat has been removed though?

Those wheels look like the sport classic which were an option.

Anyone able to say if these are oem 993 wheels on the car or could they be boxster wheels just from the photos? The Garage has mentioned they haven't always been on the car. Would they make any difference when your looking to upgrade the suspension?

They were a genuine 993 option, and are called Sport Classics. However, you can get copies so check they have right 993 Porsche part numbers on them (Google it). You will have to take a wheel off to see it.

They will be fine with susp upgrades.
