So times getting close, a few sites have some odd specs leaked.
OPC's seem to have new info also.

Numbers are confirmed as are embargo dates, but not sure I have to say the post that info yet :-(

All the forums seems to be stating a BHP figure of 375bhp

Still no real engine info out in the open or any new leaked shots of the car for months.

But a few engine sizes and cars have been talked about on you tube.
Tuned 3.4. ( I doubt this)
3.6 ( no 3.6 engine atm so be nice if true a bespoke tuned 3.6)
Detuned 3.8 ( seems an easy option so could be true)
2.5l turbo ( seems too early to me)
2..l super charged. ( no convinced)

So it seems right to start the GT4 owners forum over the other threads which go abit wayward.

I guess OPC's will be asking for a deposit very soon to secure slots on the embargo date.
But the GT4 seems well over subscribed at OPC'S

Let's not make this a what we want thread, we have that going on, on the will you still buy if thread.

Let's make this the place for real info and dates, and ofcouse colours and stitching and peoples orders.

I got my name down very early so have been told I'll be getting a 1st batch car.

It may scrape turbo charging but it will not escape the pdk box and it won't be the GT3 pdk either. Probably boring to drive and inferior to Its big brother GT3
A lot of sites have the car as Manual only ! as do the you tube vids of 2 manual cars with nice sounding NA engines doing the laps

It's never going to lap like a 991 GT3 is it, it's going to be circa £35k less and 125BHp down in real numbers.

What you can expect is a manual mid engine car though with about 375BHp.

Inferior in lap times it has to be. superior in involvement though it might be and hence we will get a lot of GT3 VS GT4 topics.

Esp when you option up a GT4 to 2nd hand 997.2 GT3 price, then that's a choice if you have your name down and undecided where to spend your cash.

As above then, Some OPC's are leaking info and the Post above confirms Feb which is what I had, just did not want to post it 1st as I was told not to post.

As for people swapping a 991 GT3 for one, one is said to be true drivers car, not sure what the GT3 is now..

Some people might want to take 20k profit out of there 991 now they have tried it and that makes the GT4 cheap to buy.

Comes back to want you want to drive, no right or wrong.

Just odd no leaked shots since this one 4 or 5 months back.

The GT4 in Stealth Black looks great but will cost what spec'd up with pccb?

Plus im not sure id really want to put more money in and lose this

Would you?
If you love the GT3 and it works for you then no, if you are like me and find it frustrating than yes.

I guess it will be hard for quite a few people to swap.

But the 997.1 is quite old now and cars do need a refresh, people laugh but a 10 year old car will need that 10k at some point.
Add in a major service and a set of tyres and it would make a good part ex esp while prices are strong.

have you got a top 3 slot at your OPC for the 1st batch other wise it's a long wait.

I don't want to sell my R as I cannot see the steering being as good, but some times you just have to move on esp while you can still buy a new manual sports car and the turbo's are coming.

If it has a 3.6 then it's going to be the GT3 RS4.0 of the Caymans

Does anyone know what the price is likely to be?
10k more than the GTS at a hinted guess plus options, so £65k base.

£70-75k?

What's the deal with deposits? If you've placed one and don't like the final spec of the car can you simply cancel and have your money returned?
you place a deposit when the spec is released, that keeps your slot. As we all know from the OPC's that's now early Feb

So nothing to return as you will know the spec of the car.

When you order a car you pay 10% of the full end price with options.

No one should have parted with money, even though we know some have !!!

you can always get your 3k slot deposit back and I am sure the people behind you will be very happy.

So either a letter of intent or a £3k deposit now, £7k-ish deposit in feb & the balance on delivery?

Sounds reasonable to me, though it does make you think how well priced the previous generation specials were compared to nowadays.

Have they started doing factory collections again yet? smile
Letter of intent now to get on a list
3k deposit in Feb when the spec is released which keeps you on the list.
balance of the 10% when you place the order/personal spec.

I've not written a letter of intent before, will an email to the salesman do? This car is looking too good to ignore.
It's a shame that this will go a bit like the 991 GT3 regarding ownership.

only a few cars and OPC's have 3x too many names down already.

You needed your name down 6 months ago.
Or become best mates with "Scott mulcahy" if he wants to keep his GT3 :-)

No one will back out now, all you will get is slot selling over list esp if Porsche are saying "A proper drivers car"

Ah interesting info I had no idea it was going to be limited build numbers.

At £90k Im not sure however. Going to pop in to my OPC tomorrow for a chat and get a feeing for whats likely.
more like £65k, ask your OPC if you can post numbers :-), a lot of people know them inc me, but every one is told to hush hush atm, not sure why.

Some one will blat them out soon enough now every OPC knows the numbers. :-)

A lot of signed disclaimers happen till the embargo date.

Hope they don't cock up the gearing otherwise it will be boring/unusable on the road. 100+ mph in third is giggle inspiring the first few times but then reality kicks in and the thought of your piece of paper being put through the shredder...........................
this bit is a bit worrying as it's not just 100mph any more for 3rd.

the 981 does 82 mph in 2nd gear alone!!!

How will long ratios help, just makes the car slower and harder to rev out.

A 997power pack car is faster to 60/70mph than a 997gt3 !and RS.
Back on topic please :-)
Hoping a few people who have orders ask their OPC tomorrow and report back new info.

It's called trust, and info is forthcoming if the person telling you can trust you, be it some one who works for Porsche or your OPC.

OPC's have a bit of info now so that's a lot of people in the know and quite a few people know some one who knows some one at Porsche.

If you have your name down on one just ASK your OPC !!!

what is clear is OPC's are telling people Feb and the GT4 was leaked at the same time on the Driver training site.

3 months is not long to wait for a full spec.

That is fair enough but at risk of repeating myself, what then is the point of coming here just to tell everyone else you know but you aren't telling....?
It's prompts people with their names down to go and ask their respecting OPC, if their OPC then say "we have no issue you posting on the net"

info comes quicker, it's just a thread with a place where I hope real info will happen 1st as it's quite exciting and we all want to know what the car is going to be.

991, 991GT3, RS and GTS all have the same title threads and info did get leaked or put on there quite fast.

I am not risking my slot to tell a few internet warriors the little info I know, and I guess a lot is hear say till this Feb embargo date.

First in line, order put through as soon as it goes live on their system with deposit paid then for first batch of cars apparently, not sure if certain OPCs get first dibs if it's very limited numbers or over subscribed however?

As I said however this has all been done via email as we're away but I suspect the finer details will be discussed on our return.
1st in line is a result at your OPC

some people have had their names down 2 years !! I thought I was early but the guy before me was over 18months ago !
I guess if you post your OPC some people will be switching.

car mag have the GT4 as a front cover 25 most wanted, but with stupid specs 450bhp turbo !!

Placed a deposit this afternoon, told 4th in list.

Only details given is it will be special and have a 911 derived engine. Only 200 uk cars coming with build slots in 2015 and 2016.
The numbers are what a lot of people were waiting for :-)

That's 3 per OPC for 2015 cars and 3 per OPC for 2016 cars then.

NA is a possibility but manual I gotta say no chance
They want to race in GT4 class which has regs of 6 gears , PDK is 7 gears.

200 cars is a few too many imo they only sold about 110 manual Cayman R's and the same in PDK.

Plus the R is awesome, I doubt the steering will match it.
To only sell 100 manual Cayman R's was a bit low, it was not even limited was it.

the GT4 is gaining more interest though 300bhp/ton puts it at quite a sweet spot

I know a few PDK fans have LOI on the GT4

I think it's a bold but great move, if it is.
