991.2 Manual driven properly today
Discussion
Just back from Pec to drive a manual Carrera which my wife has ordered.
Wow. To put this feedback in context, we have owned a very large variety of cars from many manufacturers, as well as many Porsches ; 986, 987, 997, cayenne, 991..
Go. I was a little concerned the standard carrera would feel lacking after having had a 991 GTS. It didnt. At all. The handling circuit of course doesn't have long straights which helps of course but it really does have plenty of pull, and of course the turbos help you get the most out of it. Still revs over 7k.
Sound. Sounded great. It had the optional sports exhaust but even "off" it sounded nice. Turning on didnt seem to add much to the sound just a few more pops on the overrun. Glad we didnt specify PSE.
Spanish. SO glad we went for manual. Its a sweet gearbox and a piece of cake. Of course it will add precious seconds to that 'ring time but for involvement and fun its nice to be back in 3 pedals after a number of pdks.
Tech. new nav and infotainment is a great step up; all standard now (as it should be) with apple connect, wireless charging, 4g, google maps etc.
Overall its a fantastic package, we've not changed anything on the spec and cant wait for the car to arrive now. Build is June.

Thanks. Really looking forward to it. A very different car to my M5!
Yes, when I was buying my 435d there was a 2 year old M5 sat next to it which I was eyeing up. The dealer said, 'I'm sure sir would like to also try the M5' and so I happily took him up on his offer. I was literally trembling with excitement having driven it having experienced the phenomenal power of the machine (and its difficulty putting that power down on the road). Regrettably I opted for the 435d and picked it up the next week when it was snowing! Still, although the C2 is well down on power, it is far easier to put it down onto the tarmac. The 435 is still there for the colder months ahead though. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
