I am due to collect my new 991.2 GTS in about a week - and I'm now looking at the extra insurances offered to me and wondering if they are worthwhile. I need to (a) consider if I want any of the insurances, and (b) if I would be better buying from OPC or elsewhere.

They are:

GAP - I believe this is worth having but feel I will get a better deal and better cover from somewhere like ALA or totallossgap.co.uk

SMART Repair - not sure about this, it is also available elsewhere (OPC £499). How much would it cost me to have stone chips and any slight scuffs repaired after 3 years?

Tyre and Alloy cover - with a puncture meaning a new tyre is mandatory, and they are £300 each this cover could be worth having (OPC £649)

Do you folks take any of these insurances out - and where do you buy them please?

Thanks.
Gordon

If it's a GTS I take it you have centre lock wheel nuts. If so take wheel and tyre insurance. Because the only people who can get the wheel off is porsche or someone with a truck wheel wrench! And porsche will not repair a punctured tyre so make you buy a new one!
The GAP insurance is worth having on a car of this value - I can get 5 years cover with max £75k cover for £570.

Tyre and wheel cover is next in priority, simply because as you say every puncture means a new tyre. In fact I might settle for just tyre cover as the wheels don't cost a fortune to repair. With regard to the centre locks - yes I have them, but I'm planning on removing the wheels myself annually for detailing and applying sealant. I understand it's not so bad with the right tools, I have a breaker bar and a Sealey Torque Multiplier, this means a 'normal' torque wrench can tighten to the necessary 600NM, I have read the instructions on the good to know app and seen videos - and I also have a tin of aluminium anti-seize paste, so I'm all set. The first wheel I do will be interesting - but I am pretty confident it will be OK.

Oh - nearly forgot. Thanks very much to all who have contributed to answering my question - much appreciated!
