Factory shutdown for 6 months??? Why?
Discussion
So I am reading that there will be a factory shutdown from April 2018 to September 2018 is this true ? Why? Is it retooling for 992? It does not normally take that long! I take it that cayman/boxster S will still be built at Osnabruck. Is it not financial suicide to be shut for so long?
Short term values of used 911 will obviously increase as demand increases as new sales dry up!

Confirmed this today with OPC. April to Sept. I was expecting a Cayenne in June but have been told no allocation before shutdown and everyone is being pushed back so my June build slot could become a Nov/Dec build slot.

Is it a silly comment? Porsche arent totally awash with cash like they were when they were buying VW shares. Its a huge loss of production that would hurt any manufacturer.
Nice holiday for the staff though!
If it's just the Stuttgart factory shutting down which builds predominantly 911 then with the 992 perhaps released at the Geneva motor show in March then sales of 991.2 would come to halt as customers await new model so perhaps not such a big loss in production as numbers always drop off in the year of release of a new model. Production ramped up of the 2019 MY 992 in September to make up for losses?Nice holiday for the staff though!
